Narrated Ibn Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) : I spent a night with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم). When he woke up from his sleep (in the latter part of the night for prayer) he came to his ablution water. He took the tooth-stick and used it. He then recited the verse
ِإِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَوَات ِِ آليَاتٍ ألُولِي األَلْبَابِ وَاخْتِالَفِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارْ ضوَاألَر [Verily in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are tokens for men of understanding.] (Aal-e-Imran - 190). He recited these verses up to the end of the chapter or he finished the whole chapter. He then performed ablution and came to the place of prayer. He then did two rak'ah. And then lay down on the bed and slept as much as Allah wished. He then got up and did the same. He then lay down and slept. He then got up and did the same. Every time he used the tooth-stick and offered two rak'ah of prayer. He then offered the prayer known as witr.
Abu Dawud said : Fudail on the authority of Husain (رضي الله تعالى عنه) reported the wording : He then used the tooth-stick and performed ablution while he was reciting the verses ِإِنَّ فِي خَلْق ِالسَّمَوَات ِِ وَاخْتِالَفِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارْ ضوَاألَر ِآليَاتٍ ألُولِي األَلْبَاب [Verily in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are tokens for men of understanding.] (Aal-e-Imran - 190). until he finished the chapter.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ایک رات نبی اکرم ﷺ کے ساتھ گزاری، جب آپ نیند سے بیدار ہوئے تو اپنے وضو کے پانی کے پاس آئے، اپنی مسواک لے کر مسواک کی، پھر آپ ﷺ نے آیت کریمہ «إن في خلق السموات والأرض واختلاف الليل والنهار لآيات لأولي الألباب» ۱؎ کی تلاوت کی یہاں تک کہ سورۃ ختم کے قریب ہو گئی، یا ختم ہو گئی، اس کے بعد آپ ﷺ نے وضو کیا پھر اپنے مصلی پر آئے اور دو رکعت نماز پڑھی، پھر واپس اپنے بستر پر جب تک اللہ نے چاہا جا کر سوئے رہے، پھر نیند سے بیدار ہوئے اور اسی طرح کیا ( یعنی مسواک کر کے وضو کیا اور دو رکعت نماز پڑھی ) پھر اپنے بستر پر جا کر سوئے رہے، پھر نیند سے بیدار ہوئے، اور اسی طرح کیا، پھر اپنے بستر پر جا کر سوئے رہے اس کے بعد نیند سے بیدار ہوئے اور اسی طرح کیا، ہر بار آپ ﷺ مسواک کرتے، دو رکعت نماز پڑھتے تھے، اس کے بعد آپ ﷺ نے وتر پڑھی۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسے ابن فضیل نے حصین سے روایت کی ہے، اس میں اس طرح ہے کہ آپ ﷺ نے مسواک کی اور وضو کیا، آپ ﷺ آیت کریمہ «إن في خلق السموات والأرض» پڑھ رہے تھے، یہاں تک کہ پوری سورۃ ختم کر دی۔
Abdul-Allah bin Abbas radi Allah anhuma kehte hain ke main ne ek raat Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke sath guzaari, jab aap neend se bedar hue to apne wudu ke pani ke pas aaye, apni miswak le kar miswak ki, phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne aayat kareema «In fi khalq al-samawat wal-ardh wa ikhtilaf al-layl wal-nahari la ayati la uli al-albhab» 1؎ ki tilaawat ki yahaan tak ke surat khatam ke qareeb ho gai, ya khatam ho gai, is ke baad aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne wudu kiya phir apne musli par aaye aur do rakat namaz padhi, phir wapis apne bistar par jab tak Allah ne chaha ja kar soye rahe, phir neend se bedar hue aur isi tarah kiya ( yani miswak kar ke wudu kiya aur do rakat namaz padhi ) phir apne bistar par ja kar soye rahe, phir neend se bedar hue, aur isi tarah kiya, phir apne bistar par ja kar soye rahe is ke baad neend se bedar hue aur isi tarah kiya, har bar aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) miswak karte, do rakat namaz padhte the, is ke baad aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne witr padhi. Abudaud kehte hain: ise Ibn Fadil ne Hasin se riwayat ki hai, is mein is tarah hai ke aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne miswak ki aur wudu kiya, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) aayat kareema «In fi khalq al-samawat wal-ardh» padh rahe the, yahaan tak ke puri surat khatam kar di.
