Ibn Umar ( رضي اللهتعالی عنہ) narrated that the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prohibited shighar marriage. Musaddad added in his version, “I said to ‘Nafi “What is shighar?” (It means that) a man marries the daughter of another man and gives his own daughter to him in marriage without fixing dower, and a man marries the sister of another man and gives him his sister in marriage without fixing dower.”

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے نکاح شغار سے منع فرمایا۔ مسدد نے اپنی حدیث میں اتنا اضافہ کیا ہے: میں نے نافع سے پوچھا: شغار ۱؎ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا آدمی کسی کی بیٹی سے نکاح ( بغیر مہر کے ) کرے، اور اپنی بیٹی کا نکاح اس سے بغیر مہر کے کر دے اسی طرح کسی کی بہن سے ( بغیر مہر کے ) نکاح کرے اور اپنی بہن کا نکاح اس سے بغیر مہر کے کر دے ۲؎۔
Abdullah bin Umar razi Allah unhuma kahte hain ki Rasul Allah SAW ne nikah shighar se mana farmaya. Musaddad ne apni hadees mein itna izafa kiya hai: Maine Nafi se poocha: Shighar kya hai? Unhon ne kaha aadmi kisi ki beti se nikah (baighair mahr ke) kare, aur apni beti ka nikah us se baighair mahr ke kar de isi tarah kisi ki bahan se (baighair mahr ke) nikah kare aur apni bahan ka nikah us se baighair mahr ke kar de.
حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنِ الشِّغَارِ . زَادَ مُسَدَّد فِي حَدِيثِهِ: قُلْتُ لِنَافِعٍ: مَا الشِّغَارُ ؟ قَالَ: يَنْكِحُ ابْنَةَ الرَّجُلِ وَيُنْكِحُهُ ابْنَتَهُ بِغَيْرِ صَدَاقٍ، وَيَنْكِحُ أُخْتَ الرَّجُلِ وَيُنْكِحُهُ أُخْتَهُ بِغَيْرِ صَدَاقٍ.
