Chapter: The Time For The Fasting Person To Break (His Fast)

باب وَقْتِ فِطْرِ الصَّائِمِ

Sunan Abi Dawud 2351

Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, when the night approaches from this side and the day retreats on that side, and the sun sets, according to the version of Musaddad, he who fasts has reached the time to break it.

عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم ﷺ نے فرمایا: جب ادھر سے رات آ جائے اور ادھر سے دن چلا جائے اور سورج غروب ہو جائے تو روزہ افطار کرنے کا وقت ہو گیا ۔

Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) Kehte Hain Ke Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Ne Farmaya: Jab Idhar Se Raat Aa Jaye Aur Idhar Se Din Chala Jaye Aur Sooraj Ghurub Ho Jaye To Roza Iftaar Karne Ka Waqt Ho Gaya.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ. ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ هِشَامٍ الْمَعْنَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا جَاءَ اللَّيْلُ مِنْ هَا هُنَا وَذَهَبَ النَّهَارُ مِنْ هَا هُنَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏زَادَ مُسَدَّدٌ:‏‏‏‏ وَغَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ فَقَدْ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 2352

Abd Allah bin Abi Awfa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that we went along with the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) while he was fasting. When the sun set, he said to Bilal ( رضي الله تعالى عنه), Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه), come down and prepare barley beverage for us. He said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), would that you waited for the evening. He said, come down and prepare barley beverage for us. He said, Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), the day remains on you (there remains the brightness of the day). He said, come down and prepare barley drink for us. So, he came down and prepared barley drink. The Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) drank it and said, when you see that the night approaches from this side, he who fasts has reached the time to break it; and he pointed to the east with his finger.

سلیمان شیبانی کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے عبداللہ بن ابی اوفی رضی اللہ عنہ کو کہتے سنا کہ ہم رسول اللہ ﷺ کے ساتھ چلے آپ روزے سے تھے، جب سورج غروب ہو گیا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: بلال! ( سواری سے ) اترو، اور ہمارے لیے ستو گھولو ، بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! اگر اور شام ہو جانے دیں تو بہتر ہے، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: اترو، اور ہمارے لیے ستو گھولو ، بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے پھر کہا: اللہ کے رسول! ابھی تو دن ہے، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: اترو، اور ہمارے لیے ستو گھولو ، چنانچہ وہ اترے اور ستو گھولا، آپ ﷺ نے اسے نوش فرمایا پھر فرمایا: جب تم دیکھ لو کہ رات ادھر سے آ گئی تو روزے کے افطار کا وقت ہو گیا ، اور آپ ﷺ نے اپنی انگلی سے مشرق کی جانب اشارہ فرمایا۔

Suleman Shaibani kehte hain ke main ne Abdullah bin Abi Aufa radi Allaho anho ko kehte suna ke hum Rasool Allah ﷺ ke sath chale aap roze se the, jab sooraj ghuroob ho gaya to aap ﷺ ne farmaya: Bilal! (sawari se) uttro, aur humare liye sattu gholo, Bilal radi Allaho anho ne kaha: Allah ke Rasool! agar aur sham ho jaane dain to behtar hai, aap ﷺ ne farmaya: uttro, aur humare liye sattu gholo, Bilal radi Allaho anho ne phir kaha: Allah ke Rasool! abhi to din hai, aap ﷺ ne farmaya: uttro, aur humare liye sattu gholo, chunancha woh utre aur sattu ghola, aap ﷺ ne use nosh farmaya phir farmaya: jab tum dekh lo ke raat idhar se aa gai to roze ke iftaar ka waqt ho gaya, aur aap ﷺ ne apni ungli se mashriq ki jaanib ishara farmaya.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أَبِي أَوْفَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سِرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا بِلَالُ انْزِلْ فَاجْدَحْ لَنَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَوْ أَمْسَيْتَ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ انْزِلْ فَاجْدَحْ لَنَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّ عَلَيْكَ نَهَارًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ انْزِلْ فَاجْدَحْ لَنَا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَنَزَلَ فَجَدَحَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَشَرِبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُ اللَّيْلَ قَدْ أَقْبَلَ مِنْ هَا هُنَا فَقَدْ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ.
