Chapter: If The Imam Does Not Go Out For 'Eid On Its Day, He Should Go Out To Hold It The Next Day

باب إِذَا لَمْ يَخْرُجِ الإِمَامُ لِلْعِيدِ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْغَدِ

Sunan Abi Dawud 1157

Abu Umayr reported on the authority of some of his paternal uncles who were Companions of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) : Some men came riding to the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and testified that they had sighted the new moon the previous day. He (the Prophet ﷺ), therefore, commanded the people to break the fast and to go out to their place of (Eid al-Fitr) prayer in the morning.

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ عید کے دن ایک راستے سے گئے پھر دوسرے راستے سے واپس آئے۔

Abdul-allah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a kehte hain ke Rasool-ullah salla allahu alaihi wa sallam eid ke din ek raste se gaye phir dusre raste se vapas aaye.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَذَ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ فِي طَرِيقٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فِي طَرِيقٍ آخَرَ .

Sunan Abi Dawud 1158

Bakr Ibn Mubashshir al-Ansari ( رضئهللا تعالی عنہ) narrated that he used to go to the place of prayer on the day of the breaking of the fast (Eid al-Fitr), and on the day of sacrifice (Eid Ad-Duha) along with the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (صلى هللا عليه و آله وسلم). We would walk through a valley known as Batn Bathan till we came to the place of prayer. Then we would pray along with the Apostle of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) and return through Batn Bathan (using a different way) to our house.

ابو عمیر بن انس کے ایک چچا سے جو نبی اکرم ﷺ کے اصحاب میں سے ہیں، روایت ہے کہ کچھ سوار نبی اکرم ﷺ کے پاس آئے وہ گواہی دے رہے تھے کہ کل انہوں نے چاند دیکھا ہے، تو آپ نے انہیں افطار کرنے اور دوسرے دن صبح ہوتے ہی اپنی عید گاہ جانے کا حکم دیا۔

Abu Umayr bin Anas ke ek chacha se jo Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke Ashab mein se hain, riwayat hai ke kuchh sawar Nabi Akram (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke pas aaye woh gawahi de rahe the ke kal unhon ne chand dekha hai, to aap ne unhen iftar karne aur dusre din subh hote hi apni Eidgah jaane ka hukm diya.

حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي وَحْشِيَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي عُمَيْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عُمُومَةٍ لَهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَكْبًا جَاءُوا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَشْهَدُونَ أَنَّهُمْ رَأَوْا الْهِلَالَ بِالْأَمْسِ فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يُفْطِرُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا أَصْبَحُوا أَنْ يَغْدُوا إِلَى مُصَلَّاهُمْ .
