Chapter: What to say in the evening

بَابُ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا أَمْسَى

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 1202

Abu Hurayra reported that Abu Bakr said, "Messenger of Allah, teach me something that I can say morning and evening." The Prophet said, "O Allah, Knower of the Unseen and the Visible, Creator of the heavens and the earth, everything is in Your hands. I testify that there is no god but You. I seek refuge with You from the evil of myself and the evil of shaytan and his (encouragement to) associate others (with You)." Say it in the morning and the evening and when you go to sleep."

سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا:اللہ کے رسول! مجھے کوئی دعا سکھائیں جو میں صبح و شام پڑھا کروں۔ آپ نے فرمایا:’’تم پڑھا کرو:اللّٰہم عالم الغیب ....اے اللہ غیب اور حاضر کو جاننے والے، آسمانوں اور زمین کو بنانے والے، ہر چیز کے رب اور مالک۔ میں گواہی دیتا ہوں کہ تیرے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں۔ میں اپنے نفس کے شر سے اور شیطان کے شر اور اس کے شرک سے تیری پناہ چاہتا ہوں۔ تم صبح و شام اور سوتے وقت یہ دعا پڑھو۔

Saina Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ke Saina Abu Bakar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne arz kiya: Allah ke Rasool! Mujhe koi dua sikhaen jo main subah o sham parha karoon. Aap ne farmaya: 'Tum parha karo: Allahumma Aalim al-Ghayb ... Ae Allah! Ghayb aur Hazir ko jaanne wale, Aasmanon aur Zameen ko banane wale, har cheez ke Rabb aur Malik. Main gawahi deta hoon ke Tere siwa koi mabood nahin. Main apne nafs ke shar se aur shaitan ke shar aur uske shirk se Teri panaah chahta hoon. Tum subah o sham aur sote waqt yeh dua parho.

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَاصِمٍ قَالَ‏:‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ‏:‏ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ‏:‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَلِّمْنِي شَيْئًا أَقُولُهُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُ وَأَمْسَيْتُ، قَالَ‏:‏ قُلِ‏:‏ اللَّهُمَّ عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ، رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ أَنْتَ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي، وَمِنْ شَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ، قُلْهُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتَ، وَإِذَا أَخَذْتَ مَضْجَعَكَ‏.‏

A similar report from Abu Hurayra in which he said, "The Lord of everything and its Master." He said, "The evil of shaytan and his encouragement to associate."

سیدنا ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پہلی حدیث کی طرح روایت ہے، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا:’’ہر چیز کے رب اور مالک۔‘‘ نیز فرمایا:’’شیطان کے شر اور اس کے شرک سے۔‘‘

Sayyidina Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se pehli Hadees ki tarah riwayat hai, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ''Har cheez ke Rabb aur Malik.'' Neez farmaya: ''Shaitan ke shar aur uske shirk se.''

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، عَنْ يَعْلَى، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ مِثْلَهُ‏.‏ وَقَالَ‏:‏ رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ، وَقَالَ‏:‏ شَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ‏.‏

Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 1204

Abu Rashid al-Hubrani said, "I came to 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar and asked him to relate to us what he had heard from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He handed me a paper and said, 'This is what the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, wrote for me.' I looked at it and it read:'Abu Bakr as-Siddiq asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, "Messenger of Allah, teach me what to say in the mornings and evenings." He said, "Abu Bakr, say, 'O Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, the Knower of the Unseen and Visible. the Lord of all things and their Master. I seek refuge with You from the evil of shaytan and his encouragement to associate and that I bring evil on myself or bring it on another Muslim.'"'"

ابو راشد حبرانی رحمہ اللہ سے روایت ہے کہ میں سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور ان سے عرض کیا کہ مجھے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے سنی ہوئی کوئی حدیث بیان کریں، انہوں نے مجھے ایک صحیفہ تھماتے ہوئے فرمایا:یہ وہ صحیفہ ہے جو نبی ﷺ نے مجھے لکھ کر دیا۔ میں نے اسے دیکھا تو اس میں تھا:بلاشبہ سیدنا ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی ﷺ سے پوچھا:اے اللہ کے رسول! مجھے کوئی دعا سکھائیں جو صبح و شام پڑھا کروں۔ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا:’’اے ابوبکر تم پڑھا کرو:اللّٰہم فاطر السموات ....اے اللہ آسمانوں اور زمین کے پیدا کرنے والے، غیب اور حاضر کو جاننے والے، ہر چیز کے رب اور مالک، میں تجھ سے اپنے نفس کے شر اور شیطان کے شر اور شرک سے پناہ مانگتا ہوں۔ اور اس بات سے کہ میں اپنی جان کے بارے میں بے جا حرکت کروں یا کسی مسلمان کو تکلیف پہنچاؤں۔‘‘

Abu Rashid Habrani rehmatullah alaih se riwayat hai ki mein Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amro razi Allah anhuma ki khidmat mein hazir hua aur un se arz kiya ki mujhe Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se suni hui koi hadees bayan karein, unhon ne mujhe ek sahifa thamate hue farmaya: Yeh woh sahifa hai jo Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhe likh kar diya. Mein ne use dekha to us mein tha: Bilashuba Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq razi Allah anhu ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se pucha: Aye Allah ke Rasul! mujhe koi dua sikhaen jo subah o sham parha karoon. Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ''Aye Abu Bakr tum parho: Allahumma fatiras samawati .... Aye Allah asmanon aur zameen ke paida karne wale, ghaib aur hazir ko janne wale, har cheez ke Rabb aur malik, mein tujh se apne nafs ke shar aur shaitan ke shar aur shirk se panah mangta hun. Aur is baat se ki mein apni jaan ke bare mein be ja harkat karoon ya kisi musalman ko takleef pahunchaun.''

حَدَّثَنَا خَطَّابُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ‏:‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي رَاشِدٍ الْحُبْرَانِيِّ‏:‏ أَتَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو فَقُلْتُ لَهُ‏:‏ حَدِّثْنَا بِمَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَأَلْقَى إِلَيَّ صَحِيفَةً فَقَالَ‏:‏ هَذَا مَا كَتَبَ لِيَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَنَظَرْتُ فِيهَا، فَإِذَا فِيهَا‏:‏ إِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ‏:‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عَلِّمْنِي مَا أَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحْتُ وَإِذَا أَمْسَيْتُ، فَقَالَ‏:‏ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، قُلِ‏:‏ اللَّهُمَّ فَاطِرَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ، عَالِمَ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ، رَبَّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ وَمَلِيكَهُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي، وَشَرِّ الشَّيْطَانِ وَشِرْكِهِ، وَأَنْ أَقْتَرِفَ عَلَى نَفْسِي سُوءًا أَوْ أَجُرُّهُ إِلَى مُسْلِمٍ‏.‏
