Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11289
Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Some of you will fight over the interpretation and explanation of the Quran just as I fought for its revelation." Upon hearing this Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) stood up. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said, "No, this refers to the one who is mending shoes." At that time, Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) was mending his shoes.

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا تم میں سے بعض لوگ قرآن کی تفسیر و تاویل پر اس طرح قتال کریں گے جیسے میں اس کی تنزیل پر قتال کرتا ہوں، اس پر حضراتِ ابوبکر و عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کھڑے ہوئے تو نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا نہیں، اس سے مراد جوتی گانٹھنے والا ہے اور اس وقت حضرت علی رضی اللہ عنہ اپنی جوتی گانٹھ رہے تھے۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri Raziallah Anhu se marvi hai keh Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya tum mein se baz log Quran ki tafseer o tawil par is tarah qatal karenge jaise main is ki tanzil par qatal karta hun, is par hazrat Abu Bakar o Umar Raziallah Anhuma kharay huwe to Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya nahi, is se murad jooti gantne wala hai aur is waqt Hazrat Ali Raziallah Anhu apni jooti ganth rahe thay.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا فِطْرٌ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ مِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُقَاتِلُ عَلَى تَأْوِيلِهِ كَمَا قَاتَلْتُ عَلَى تَنْزِيلِهِ"، قَالَ: فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ، فَقَالَ:" لَا، وَلَكِنْ خَاصِفُ النَّعْلِ"، وَعَلِيٌّ يَخْصِفُ نَعْلَهُ.
