Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11312
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would observe the Chast prayer (forenoon prayer) with such regularity that we would think that he would never abandon it, and sometimes he would abandon it with such regularity that we would think that he would never offer this prayer.

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ بعض اوقات چاشت کی نماز اس تسلسل سے پڑھتے تھے کہ ہم یہ سوچنے لگتے کہ اب آپ اسے نہیں چھوڑیں گے اور بعض اوقات اس تسلسل سے چھوڑتے کہ ہم یہ سوچنے لگتے کہ اب آپ یہ نماز نہیں پڑھیں گے۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) baaz auqat chast ki namaz is tasalsul se parhte thy ke hum ye sochne lagte ke ab aap ise nahi chhoren ge aur baaz auqat is tasalsul se chhorte ke hum ye sochne lagte ke ab aap ye namaz nahi parhen ge.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلٌ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى حَتَّى نَقُولَ لَا يَتْرُكُهَا، وَيَتْرُكُهَا حَتَّى نَقُولَ لَا يُصَلِّيهَا".
