Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11319
It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed al-Khudri that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, during the year of Tabuk, while delivering a sermon leaning against a date-palm trunk, “Shall I not tell you of the best of people and the worst of people? The best of people is the one who strives in jihad for the sake of Allah on his horse, his camel or on his own two feet until he meets his Lord, and the worst of people is the one who persists in sin, reads the Qur’an but it has no effect on him.”

حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے غزوہ تبوک کے سال کھجور کے ایک درخت کے ساتھ ٹیک لگا کر خطبہ دیتے ہوئے ارشاد فرمایا کیا میں تمہیں بہترین اور بدترین انسان کے بارے نہ بتاؤں؟ بہترین آدمی تو وہ ہے جو اللہ کے راستے میں اپنے گھوڑے، اونٹ یا اپنے پاؤں پر موت تک جہاد کرتا رہے اور بدترین آدمی وہ فاجر شخص ہے جو گناہوں پر جری ہو، قرآن کریم پڑھتا ہو لیکن اس سے کچھ اثر قبول نہ کرتا ہو۔
Hazrat Abusaeed Khudri Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Gazwa e Tabook ke saal khajoor ke aik darakht ke sath tek laga kar khutba dete huye irshad farmaya kya main tumhen behtarin aur badtareen insaan ke bare na bataun Behtarin aadmi to woh hai jo Allah ke raste mein apne ghore unt ya apne paon par mout tak jihad karta rahe aur badtareen aadmi woh fajir shakhs hai jo gunahon par jari ho Quran Kareem parhta ho lekin us se kuch asar qubool na karta ho
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَامَ تَبُوكَ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ وَهُوَ مُسْنِدٌ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى نَخْلَةٍ، فَقَالَ:" أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِخَيْرِ النَّاسِ وَشَرِّ النَّاسِ، إِنَّ مِنْ خَيْرِ النَّاسِ رَجُلًا عَمِلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَلَى ظَهْرِ فَرَسِهِ، أَوْ عَلَى ظَهْرِ بَعِيرِهِ، أَوْ عَلَى قَدَمَيْهِ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهُ الْمَوْتُ، وَإِنَّ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ رَجُلًا فَاجِرًا جَرِيئًا يَقْرَأُ كِتَابَ اللَّهِ وَلَا يَدْعُو إِلَى شَيْءٍ مِنْهُ".
