Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 11447
Abu al-Jawza' said, "I heard a fatwa from Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him, regarding the buying and selling of gold and silver, and I continued to give the same fatwa to people for a while. When I met him again, he had retracted his fatwa. I asked him the reason for this, and he said that it was just his opinion that he had formed. Later, Abu Sa'id Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, told me that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had forbidden it."

ابو الجوزاء کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے سونے چاندی کی خریدو فروخت کے معاملے میں حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ سے ایک فتویٰ سنا اور ایک عرصہ تک لوگوں کو وہی فتویٰ دیتا رہا، جب دوبارہ ان سے ملاقات ہوئی تو انہوں نے اپنے فتویٰ سے رجوع کرلیا تھا، میں نے ان سے اس کی وجہ پوچھی تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ وہ صرف میری رائے تھی جو میں نے قائم کرلی تھی، بعد میں مجھے حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ نے بتایا کہ نبی ﷺ نے اس سے منع فرمایا ہے۔
Abu aljoza kahte hain keh maine sone chandi ki khareed o farokht ke mamle mein hazrat ibn abbas razi allaho anho se ek fatwa suna aur ek arsa tak logon ko wahi fatwa deta raha, jab dobara unse mulaqat hui to unhon ne apne fatwa se rujoo karliya tha, maine unse iski waja poochhi to unhon ne farmaya keh woh sirf meri raay thi jo maine qaim karli thi, baad mein mujhe hazrat abu said khudri razi allaho anho ne bataya keh nabi sallallaho alaihe wasallam ne is se mana farmaya hai.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الرَّبْعِيُّ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْجَوْزَاءِ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يُفْتِي فِي الصَّرْفِ، قَالَ:" فَأَفْتَيْتُ بِهِ زَمَانًا"، قَالَ: ثُمَّ لَقِيتُهُ فَرَجَعَ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: وَلِمَ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا هُوَ رَأْيٌ رَأَيْتُهُ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْهُ.
