Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 14306
Narrated by Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): Once Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) asked me if I was married. I said: Yes! He asked: To a virgin or a previously married woman? I replied: A previously married one. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Why didn't you marry a virgin so you could play with her and she could play with you? I said: O Messenger of Allah! My father was martyred in the battle of Uhud leaving behind seven daughters. I didn't find it appropriate to bring someone as naive as them. I thought it would be better to have a woman who could take care of them. Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: You did the right thing.

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے مجھ سے پوچھا کہ کیا تم نے شادی کر لی ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا: جی ہاں! پوچھا: کنواری سے یا شوہر دیدہ سے؟ میں نے عرض کیا: شوہر دیدہ سے، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: کنواری سے نکاح کیوں نہیں کیا کہ تم اس سے کھیلتے اور وہ تم سے کھیلتی؟ میں نے عرض کیا کہ یا رسول اللہ! میرے والد صاحب غزوہ احد میں شہید ہو گئے تھے اور انہوں نے سات بیٹیاں چھوڑیں میں نے ان ہی جیسی بیوقوف کو لانا مناسب نہ سمجھا میں نے سوچا کہ ایسی عورت ہو جو ان کی دیکھ بھال کر سکے نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا: تم نے صحیح کیا۔
Sayyidna Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujh se pucha ki kya tumne shadi kar li hai? Maine arz kiya: Ji haan! Pucha: Kunwari se ya shohar deeda se? Maine arz kiya: Shohar deeda se, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Kunwari se nikah kyun nahi kiya ki tum us se khelte aur wo tum se khelti? Maine arz kiya ki Ya Rasulullah! Mere walid sahab Ghazwa Uhud mein shaheed ho gaye the aur unhon ne saat betiyan chhoren maine un hi jaisi bewqoof ko lana munasib na samjha maine socha ki aisi aurat ho jo un ki dekh bhaal kar sake Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: Tumne sahi kiya.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قَالَ عَمْرٌو ، سَمِعْتُ جَابِرًا ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" هَلْ نَكَحْتَ؟"، قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ:" أَبِكْرًا، أَمْ ثَيِّبًا؟" قُلْتُ: ثَيِّبًا، قَالَ:" فَهَلَّا بِكْرًا تُلَاعِبُهَا وَتُلَاعِبُكَ!"، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، قُتِلَ أَبِي يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ، وَتَرَكَ تِسعَ بَنَاتٍ، فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أَجْمَعَ إِلَيْهِنَّ خَرْقَاءَ مِثْلَهُنَّ، وَلَكِنْ امْرَأَةً تُمَشِّطُهُنَّ، وَتُقِومُ عَلَيْهِنَّ، قَالَ:" أَصَبْتَ".
