Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 14352
It is narrated on the authority of Hadhrat Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), we used to give our land for cultivation in exchange for a share of the produce. We would receive dates, both ripe and unripe. However, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) instructed that whoever possesses land should either cultivate it themselves or allow their brother (in Islam) to do so, otherwise, they should leave it (and not rent it out).

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کے دور باسعادت میں ہم لوگ زمین کو بٹائی پر دے دیتے تھے جس سے ہمیں کچی اور دوسری کھجوریں مل جاتی تھیں، لیکن نبی ﷺ نے فرما دیا کہ جس شخص کے پاس زمین ہو، اسے خود کاشت کرنی چاہیے یا اپنے بھائی کو اجازت دے دے، ورنہ چھوڑ دے (کرائے پر نہ دے)۔
Sayyidna Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke daur basalamat mein hum log zameen ko batai par de dete thay jisse humein kachi aur dusri khajoorein mil jati thi, lekin Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farma diya ki jis shakhs ke pass zameen ho, use khud kاشت karni chahiye ya apne bhai ko ijazat de de, warna chhod de (kiraye par na de).
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ: كُنَّا نُخَابِرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَنُصِيبُ مِنَ الْبُسْرِ، وَمِنْ كَذَا، فَقَالَ:" مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْضٌ فَلْيَزْرَعْهَا، أَوْ لِيُحْرِثْهَا أَخَاهُ، وَإِلَّا فَلْيَدَعْهَا".
