The Musnad of Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him)
مُسْنَدُ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ
Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 14648
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade marriage by way of barter, where no dowry is specified, and the exchange itself is considered to be the dowry.

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے وٹے سٹے کے نکاح سے منع فرمایا ہے جبکہ اس میں مہر مقرر نہ کیا گیا بلکہ تبادلے ہی کو مہر فرض کر لیا گیا۔
Syedna Jaber (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai keh Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne wate sate ke nikah se mana farmaya hai jabke is mein mehr muqarrar nah kia gaya balke tabadale hi ko mehr farz kar lia gaya.
حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ:" نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الشِّغَارِ".
