Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 14713
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (RA) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not wage Jihad in the Haram city unless war was imposed by others; otherwise, when the sacred months began, he would stop until they were over.

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے شہر حرم میں جہاد نہیں فرماتے تھے الاّ یہ کہ دوسروں کی طرف سے جنگ مسلط کر دی جائے ورنہ جب اشہر حرم شروع ہوتے تو آپ ان کے ختم ہو نے تک رک جاتے۔
Sayyidna Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne shehr haram mein jihad nahi farmate the illa ye keh doosron ki taraf se jang musallat kar di jaye warna jab ashhr haram shuru hote to aap in ke khatam hone tak ruk jate.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ:" لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْزُو فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ، إِلَّا أَنْ يُغْزَى، أَوْ يُغْزَوْا، فَإِذَا حَضَرَهُ أَقَامَ حَتَّى يَنْسَلِخَ".
