Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 1682
Narrated by Abdullah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) that Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) went towards Syria. When he reached Sargh, he was informed that a plague had broken out in Syria. So, Abdur Rahman bin Auf (may Allah be pleased with him) told Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If you hear of an outbreak of plague in a land, then do not enter it; but if the plague breaks out in a place while you are already there, then do not leave that place.” Hearing this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from Sargh.

سیدنا عبداللہ بن عامر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ شام کی طرف روانہ ہوئے، جب سرغ میں پہنچے تو پتہ چلا کہ شام میں طاعون کی وبا پھیلی ہوئی ہے، تو سیدنا عبدالرحمن بن عوف رضی اللہ عنہ نے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کو بتایا کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا ہے: ”جس علاقے میں یہ وباء پھیلی ہوئی ہو، تم وہاں مت جاؤ، اور اگر تم کسی علاقے میں ہو اور وہاں یہ وبا پھیل جائے تو وہاں سے نہ نکلو۔“ یہ سن کر سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سرغ سے ہی لوٹ آئے۔
Syedna Abdullah bin Aamir Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai ke Syedna Umar Raziallahu Anhu Sham ki taraf rawana huye, jab Sargh mein pahunche to pata chala ke Sham mein taoon ki waba pheli hui hai, to Syedna Abdul Rahman bin Auf Raziallahu Anhu ne Syedna Umar Raziallahu Anhu ko bataya ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya hai: ”Jis ilaqe mein yeh waba pheli hui ho, tum wahan mat jao, aur agar tum kisi ilaqe mein ho aur wahan yeh waba phel jaye to wahan se na niklo.“ Yeh sunkar Syedna Umar Raziallahu Anhu Sargh se hi laut aaye.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ خَرَجَ إِلَى الشَّامِ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ سَرْغَ بَلَغَهُ، أَنَّ الْوَبَاءَ قَدْ وَقَعَ بِالشَّامِ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ:" إِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِهِ بِأَرْضٍ، فَلَا تَقْدَمُوا عَلَيْهِ، وَإِذَا وَقَعَ بِأَرْضٍ، وَأَنْتُمْ بِهَا، فَلَا تَخْرُجُوا فِرَارًا مِنْهُ"، فَرَجَعَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مِنْ سَرْغَ.
