Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18238
It is narrated by Mughira (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would stand in prayer for so long that his blessed feet would swell. People would say, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Allah Almighty has forgiven all your past and future sins, then why so much effort?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would say, "Should I not be a grateful servant?".

حضرت مغیرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ اتنی دیر قیام فرماتے کہ آپ کے مبارک قدم سوج جاتے لوگ کہتے یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! اللہ تعالیٰ نے تو آپ کے اگلے پچھلے سارے گناہ معاف فرمادئیے ہیں پھر اتنی محنت؟ نبی کریم ﷺ فرماتے کیا میں شکرگذار بندہ نہ بنوں؟
Hazrat Mugheera Razi Allah Anhu se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) itni dair qayam farmate ke aap ke mubarak qadam sooj jate log kahte ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Allah Ta'ala ne to aap ke agle pichle sare gunah maaf farma diye hain phir itni mehnat Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) farmate kya main shukr guzaar banda na banun
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، وَسُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي حَتَّى تَرِمَ قَدَمَاهُ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ: " أَوَلَا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا" .
