Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18262
It is narrated on the authority of Adi that once I submitted in the blessed court of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! My father used to uphold ties of kinship and do such and such good deeds." The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Your father had an aim (fame) which he achieved." I submitted, "I ask you about the food which I will only leave when I am helpless?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Do not leave anything in which you appear to be imitating Christians." I submitted, "If I set my dog for hunting and it catches the prey but I don't have anything to slaughter it with, then can I slaughter it with a sharp stone and the tip of a stick?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Make the blood flow with whatever you want and take the name of Allah upon it."

حضرت عدی سے مروی ہے کہ ایک میں نے بارگارہ رسالت میں عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! میرے والد صاحب صلہ رحمی اور فلاں فلاں کام کرتے تھے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ تمہارے باپ کا ایک مقصد (شہرت ') تھا جو اس نے پالیا میں نے عرض کیا کہ میں آپ سے اس کھانے کے متعلق پوچھتا ہوں جسے میں صرف مجبوری کے وقت چھوڑوں؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کوئی ایسی چیز مت چھوڑو جس میں تم عیسائیت کے مشابہہ معلوم ہو میں نے عرض کیا کہ اگر میں اپنا کتا شکار پر چھوڑوں، وہ شکار کو پکڑ لے لیکن میرے پاس اسے ذبح کرنے کے کوئی چیز نہ ہو تو کیا میں اسے تیز دھار پتھر اور لاٹھی کی دھار سے ذبح کرسکتا ہوں نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا جس چیز سے چاہو خون بہادو اور اس پر اللہ کا نام لے لو۔
Hazrat Adi se marvi hai keh aik main ne bargaah risalat mein arz kiya Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! Mere walid sahib sila rehmi aur falan falan kaam karte thay Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya keh tumhare baap ka aik maqsad (shohrat) tha jo usne pala main ne arz kiya keh main aap se is khanay ke mutalliq poochta hoon jise main sirf majboori ke waqt chhorun? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya koi aisi cheez mat chhoro jis mein tum isaaiyat ke mushabaha maaloom ho main ne arz kiya keh agar main apna kutta shikaar par chhorun, woh shikaar ko pakad le lekin mere pass use zibah karne ke koi cheez na ho to kya main use tez dhaar pathar aur lathi ki dhaar se zibah karsakta hoon Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya jis cheez se chaho khoon bahado aur us par Allah ka naam le lo.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُرَيَّ بْنَ قَطَرِيٍّ ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ عَدِيَّ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنَّ أَبِي كَانَ يَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ، وَيَفْعَلُ كَذَا وَكَذَا. قَالَ:" إِنَّ أَبَاكَ أَرَادَ أَمْرًا فَأَدْرَكَهُ" . يَعْنِي: الذِّكْرَ. قَالَ: قُلْتُ: إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ طَعَامٍ لَا أَدَعُهُ إِلَّا تَحَرُّجًا، قَالَ: " لَا تَدَعْ شَيْئًا ضَارَعْتَ فِيهِ نَصْرَانِيَّةً" . قُلْتُ: أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي، فَيَأْخُذُ الصَّيْدَ، وَلَيْسَ مَعِي مَا أُذَكِّيهِ بِهِ، فَأَذْبَحَهُ بِالْمَرْوَةِ وَالْعَصَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " أَمَرَّ الدَّمَ بِمَا شِئْتَ، وَاذْكُرْ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ" .
