Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 18283
Ata' bin Saib (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "The day I first became acquainted with 'Abdul Rahman bin Abi Laila, I saw an elderly man with white hair on his head and beard riding a donkey, accompanying a funeral procession. I heard him say, 'So-and-so narrated to me from so-and-so that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: 'Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever dislikes to meet Allah, Allah dislikes to meet him.'' Upon hearing this, the people bowed their heads and began to weep. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked them why they were weeping. They replied, 'In that case, none of us like death.' The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'It does not mean that. The reality is that when the time of death approaches for a person who is among the righteous, he is welcomed with gardens of bliss and bounties. When he is given the good news, he desires to meet Allah, and Allah desires to meet him. And when the time of death approaches for a person who is among the deniers and the misguided, he is received with boiling water. When he is informed of this, he dislikes to meet Allah, and Allah dislikes to meet him."

عطاء بن سائب رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ جس دن سب سے پہلے مجھے عبدالرحمن بن ابی لیلیٰ کی شناخت ہوئی ہے اسی دن میں نے سر اور ڈاڑھی کے سفید بالوں والے ایک بزرگ کو گدھے پر سوار دیکھا جو ایک جنازے کے ساتھ جارہے تھے میں نے انہیں یہ کہتے ہوئے سنا کہ مجھ سے فلاں بن فلاں نے یہ حدیث بیان کی ہے کہ انہوں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے جو شخص اللہ سے ملاقات کو پسند کرتا ہے اللہ اس سے ملنے کو پسند کرتا ہے اور جو اللہ سے ملنے کو ناپسند کرتا ہے اللہ اس سے ملنے کو ناپسند کرتا ہے۔ یہ سن کر لوگ سرجھکا کر رونے لگے نبی کریم ﷺ نے رونے کی وجہ پوچھی تو انہوں نے عرض کیا کہ اس طرح تو ہم سب ہی موت کو اچھا نہیں سمجھتے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اس کا یہ مطلب نہیں ہے اصل بات یہ ہے کہ جب کسی کی موت کا وقت آتا ہے اور وہ مقربین میں سے ہوتا ہے تو اس کے لئے راحت غذائیں اور نعمتوں والے باغات ہوں گے اور جب اسے اس کی خوشخبری سنائی جاتی ہے تو وہ اللہ سے ملنے کی خواہش کرتا ہے اور اللہ بھی اس سے ملنے کو پسند فرماتا ہے اور اگر وہ جھٹلانے والے گمراہ لوگوں میں سے ہو تو اس کی مہمان نوازی کھولتے ہوئے پانی سے کی جاتی ہے اور جب اسے اس کی اطلاع ملتی ہے تو وہ اللہ سے ملنے کو ناپسند کرتا ہے اور اللہ خود بھی اس سے ملنے کو زیادہ ناپسند کرتا ہے۔
Ata bin Saib rehmatullah kahte hain keh jis din sab se pehle mujhe Abdurrahman bin Abi Laila ki shanakht hui hai usi din maine sir aur darhi ke safeed baalon wale ek buzurg ko gadhe par sawar dekha jo ek janaze ke sath ja rahe the maine unhen ye kahte hue suna keh mujh se falan bin falan ne ye hadees bayan ki hai keh unhon ne Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko ye farmate hue suna hai jo shakhs Allah se mulakat ko pasand karta hai Allah us se milne ko pasand karta hai aur jo Allah se milne ko napasand karta hai Allah us se milne ko napasand karta hai. Ye sun kar log sar jhuka kar rone lage Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne rone ki wajah poochi to unhon ne arz kiya keh is tarah to hum sab hi maut ko achha nahin samjhate Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya iska ye matlab nahin hai asl baat ye hai keh jab kisi ki maut ka waqt aata hai aur wo muqrabeen mein se hota hai to uske liye rahat ghizain aur naimaton wale bagh honge aur jab use uski khushkhabri sunai jati hai to wo Allah se milne ki khwahish karta hai aur Allah bhi us se milne ko pasand farmata hai aur agar wo jhutlane wale gumrah logon mein se ho to uski mehezbani kholte hue pani se ki jati hai aur jab use uski ittila milti hai to wo Allah se milne ko napasand karta hai aur Allah khud bhi us se milne ko zyada napasand karta hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ، قَالَ: كَانَ أَوَّلُ يَوْمٍ عَرَفْتُ فِيهِ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى رَأَيْتُ شَيْخًا أَبْيَضَ الرَّأْسِ وَاللِّحْيَةِ عَلَى حِمَارٍ، وَهُوَ يَتْبَعُ جِنَازَةً، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَنِي فُلَانُ بْنُ فُلَانٍ : سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَنْ أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ، أَحَبَّ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ، وَمَنْ كَرِهَ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ، كَرِهَ اللَّهُ لِقَاءَهُ" قَالَ: فَأَكَبَّ الْقَوْمُ يَبْكُونَ، فَقَالَ:" مَا يُبْكِيكُمْ؟" فَقَالُوا: إِنَّا نَكْرَهُ الْمَوْتَ. قَالَ:" لَيْسَ ذَلِكَ، وَلَكِنَّهُ إِذَا حَضَرَ فَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّةُ نَعِيمٍ سورة الواقعة آية 88 - 89 فَإِذَا بُشِّرَ بِذَلِكَ، أَحَبَّ لِقَاءَ اللَّهِ، وَاللَّهُ لِلِقَائِهِ أَحَبُّ، وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ فَنُزُلٌ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ سورة الواقعة آية 92 - 93" قَالَ عَطَاءٌ: وَفِي قِرَاءَةِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ" ثُمَّ تَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ"، فَإِذَا بُشِّرَ، بِذَلِكَ يَكْرَهُ لِقَاءَ اللَّه، وَاللَّهُ لِلِقَائِهِ أَكْرَهُ" .
