Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 19828
It has been narrated on the authority of Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) finished the 'Asr prayer after offering three rak'ahs (units of prayer) and went inside his house. Then, a man with unusually long arms, called Kharbaq, stood up and called out, "O Messenger of Allah!". The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out, and the man said, "You only prayed three rak'ahs." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned and asked the people, "Is he telling the truth?". The people replied, "Yes!". So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered one short rak'ah and finished the prayer with salam (salutation). Then, he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness (sajdah sahw) and ended the prayer with salam again.

حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے عصر کی تین رکعتوں پر ہی سلام پھیر دیا اور سلام پھیر کر گھر چلے گئے، ایک آدمی جس کا نام " خرباق " تھا اور اس کے ہاتھ کچھ زیادہ ہی لمبے تھے، اٹھ کر گیا اور " یا رسول اللہ " کہہ کر پکارا، نبی ﷺ باہر تشریف لائے تو اس نے بتایا کہ آپ نے تین رکعتیں پڑھائی ہیں، نبی ﷺ واپس آئے اور لوگوں سے پوچھا کیا یہ سچ کہہ رہا ہے؟ لوگوں نے عرض کیا جی ہاں! تو نبی ﷺ نے چھوٹی ہوئی ایک رکعت پڑھائی اور سلام پھیر کر سہو کے دو سجدے کئے اور سلام پھیر دیا۔
Hazrat Imran bin Husain (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Asar ki teen rakaton par hi salaam pher diya aur salaam pher kar ghar chale gaye, aik aadmi jis ka naam " Kharbaq " tha aur is ke hath kuch zyada hi lambe the, uth kar gaya aur " Ya Rasulullah " keh kar pukara, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bahar tashreef laaye to us ne bataya ki aap ne teen rakaten parhayi hain, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) wapas aaye aur logon se poocha kya yeh sach keh raha hai? Logon ne arz kiya ji han! To Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne chhoti hui aik rakat parhayi aur salaam pher kar sahu ke do sajde kiye aur salaam pher diya.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ , أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " سَلَّمَ فِي ثَلَاثِ رَكَعَاتٍ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَدَخَلَ، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ: الْخِرْبَاقُ، وَكَانَ فِي يَدَيْهِ طُولٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ صَنِيعَهُ، فَجَاءَ فَقَالَ:" أَصَدَقَ هَذَا؟" قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، فَصَلَّى الرَّكْعَةَ الَّتِي تَرَكَ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ .
