The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2055
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fell ill, he commanded Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) to lead the people in prayer. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) felt some relief in his illness, so he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came out. When Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) heard the footsteps of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he intended to step back. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gestured to him and himself sat on his left side, and from there he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began reciting from where Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) had left off.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ جب نبی ﷺ بیمار ہوئے تو سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو لوگوں کی امامت کا حکم دیا، پھر آپ ﷺ کو اپنی بیماری میں کچھ تخفیف محسوس ہوئی، چنانچہ آپ ﷺ باہر نکلے، جب سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ کو نبی ﷺ کی آہٹ محسوس ہوئی تو انہوں نے پیچھے ہٹنے کا ارادہ کیا، نبی ﷺ نے انہیں اشارہ کیا اور خود ان کے پہلو میں بائیں جانب تشریف فرما ہو گئے، اور وہیں سے تلاوت شروع فرما دی جہاں سے سیدنا ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ نے چھوڑی تھی۔
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bimar huye to Sayyidna Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko logon ki imamat ka hukm diya, phir Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko apni bimari mein kuch takhfif mehsoos hui, chunancha Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) bahar nikle, jab Sayyidna Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki ahat mehsoos hui to unhon ne peeche hatne ka irada kiya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhein ishara kiya aur khud un ke pehlu mein bayen janib tashrif farma ho gaye, aur wahin se tilawat shuru farma di jahan se Sayyidna Abu Bakr (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne chhodi thi.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ الْأَرْقَمِ بْنِ شُرَحْبِيلَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" لَمَّا مَرِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بِالنَّاسِ، ثُمَّ وَجَدَ خِفَّةً فَخَرَجَ، فَلَمَّا أَحَسَّ بِهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْكُصَ , فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَجَلَسَ إِلَى جَنْبِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ وَاسْتَفْتَحَ مِنَ الْآيَةِ الَّتِي انْتَهَى إِلَيْهَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ".
