The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2071
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) to Yemen, he said, "You are going to a people from the People of the Book. Invite them to testify that there is no god but Allah and that I, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), am the Messenger of Allah. If they obey you in this, then tell them that Allah has made it obligatory upon them to pray five times a day and night. If they obey you in this, then tell them that Allah has made it obligatory upon them to pay Zakat from their wealth, which will be taken from the rich among them and distributed among the poor. And when they obey you in this, then beware of choosing the best of their wealth for yourself, and fear the supplication of the oppressed, for there is no barrier between it and Allah."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ حضور نبی مکرم، سرور دو عالم ﷺ نے جب سیدنا معاذ بن جبل رضی اللہ عنہ کو یمن کی طرف بھیجا تو فرمایا کہ ”تم ان لوگوں کے پاس جا رہے ہو جو اہل کتاب ہیں، انہیں اس بات کی گواہی دینے کی دعوت دینا کہ اللہ کے علاوہ کوئی معبود نہیں اور میں یعنی محمد ﷺ اللہ کا پیغمبر ہوں، اگر وہ تمہاری اس بات پر اطاعت کریں تو انہیں یہ بتاؤ کہ اللہ نے ان پر ہر دن رات میں پانچ نمازیں فرض کی ہیں، جب وہ اس بات میں بھی تمہاری اطاعت کر لیں تو انہیں یہ بتانا کہ اللہ نے ان کے مال پر زکوٰۃ فرض کی ہے جو ان کے مالداروں سے لے کر ان ہی کے غرباء میں تقسیم کر دی جائے گی، جب وہ تمہاری یہ بات مان لیں تو ان کے عمدہ مال چھانٹی کرنے سے اپنے آپ کو بچانا اور مظلوم کی بددعا سے ڈرتے رہنا کیونکہ اس کے اور اللہ کے درمیان کوئی پردہ نہیں ہوتا۔“
Sayyida na Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Huzoor Nabi Mukarram, Sarwar Do Aalam (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne jab Sayyida na Muaz bin Jabal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ko Yemen ki taraf bheja to farmaya ki "Tum in logon ke pass ja rahe ho jo Ahle Kitab hain, inhen is baat ki gawahi dene ki dawat dena ki Allah ke ilawa koi mabood nahi aur main yani Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Allah ka paighambar hun, agar woh tumhari is baat par itaat karen to inhen ye batana ki Allah ne in par har din raat mein panch namazain farz ki hain, jab woh is baat mein bhi tumhari itaat kar len to inhen ye batana ki Allah ne in ke maal par zakat farz ki hai jo in ke maaldaron se le kar in hi ke ghurba mein taqsim kar di jayegi, jab woh tumhari ye baat maan len to in ke umda maal chhanti karne se apne aap ko bachana aur mazloom ki baddua se darte rahna kyunki uske aur Allah ke darmiyan koi parda nahi hota.".
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْمَكِّيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا بَعَثَ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ، قَالَ" إِنَّكَ تَأْتِي قَوْمًا أَهْلَ كِتَابٍ، فَادْعُهُمْ إِلَى شَهَادَةِ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ، فَإِنْ هُمْ أَطَاعُوكَ لِذَلِكَ فَأَعْلِمْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ افْتَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ وَلَيْلَةٍ، فَإِنْ أَطَاعُوا لِذَلِكَ فَأَعْلِمْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ افْتَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَدَقَةً فِي أَمْوَالِهِمْ تُؤْخَذُ مِنْ أَغْنِيَائِهِمْ وَتُرَدُّ فِي فُقَرَائِهِمْ، فَإِنْ هُمْ أَطَاعُوكَ لِذَلِكَ فَإِيَّاكَ وَكَرَائِمَ أَمْوَالِهِمْ، وَاتَّقِ دَعْوَةَ الْمَظْلُومِ فَإِنَّهَا لَيْسَ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ حِجَابٌ".
