Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21038
It is narrated on the authority of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to deliver two sermons on Friday. He would deliver one sermon, then sit down, and then stand up and deliver the second sermon. And the sermon and prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) were moderate, and he would recite verses from the Holy Quran on the pulpit.

حضرت جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ جمعہ کے دن دو خطبے دیتے تھے پہلے ایک خطبہ دیتے پھر بیٹھ جاتے اور پھر کھڑے ہو کر دوسرا خطبہ دیتے تھے اور نبی ﷺ کا خطبہ اور نماز معتدل ہوتے تھے اور وہ منبر پر قرآن کریم کی آیات تلاوت کرتے تھے۔
Hazrat Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Juma ke din do khutbe dete thy pehle ek khutba dete phir beth jate aur phir kharay ho kar dusra khutba dete thy aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka khutba aur namaz motadil hote thy aur wo mimbar par Quran Kareem ki ayat tilawat karte thy.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" كَانَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا، وَيَجْلِسُ ثُمَّ يَقُومُ يَقْرَأُ آيَاتٍ وَيَذْكُرُ اللَّهَ، وَكَانَتْ خُطْبَتُهُ قَصْدًا، وَصَلَاتُهُ قَصْدًا" .
