Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21331
It is narrated on the authority of Abuzar (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the court of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah, which deed is the most virtuous?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "To have faith in Allah Almighty and to strive in His way." I submitted, "O Messenger of Allah, which slave is the best to set free?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The one who is most precious and valuable to his owner." I submitted, "What if I cannot find such a slave?" The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then help a needy person or do labor for someone in need." I submitted, "What if I am unable to do even that?" He said, "Then keep people safe from your own troubles, for this is also a charity that you give on your behalf."

حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں نے بارگاہ رسالت میں عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ سب سے افضل عمل کون سا ہے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اللہ تعالیٰ پر ایمان لانا اور اس کی راہ میں جہاد کرنا، میں نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ ﷺ کون سا غلام آزاد کرنا سب سے افضل ہے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا جو اس کے مالک کے نزدیک سب سے نفیس اور گراں قیمت ہو عرض کیا کہ اگر مجھے ایسا غلام نہ ملے تو؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کسی ضرورت مند کی مدد کردو یا کسی محتاج کے لئے محنت مزدوری کرلو عرض کیا کہ اگر میں یہ بھی نہ کرسکوں تو؟ فرمایا لوگوں کو اپنی تکلیف سے محفوظ رکھو کیونکہ یہ بھی ایک صدقہ ہے جو تم اپنی طرف سے دیتے ہو۔
Hazrat Abuzar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki aik martaba mein ne bargah risalat mein arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) sab se afzal amal kon sa hai? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya Allah Ta'ala par iman lana aur uski rah mein jihad karna, mein ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kon sa ghulam azad karna sab se afzal hai? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya jo uske malik ke nazdeek sab se nafees aur gran keemat ho arz kiya ki agar mujhe aisa ghulam na mile to? Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya kisi zaroratmand ki madad karo ya kisi mohtaj ke liye mehnat mazdoori karlo arz kiya ki agar mein yeh bhi na karsakon to? Farmaya logon ko apni takleef se mahfooz rakho kyunki yeh bhi ek sadqah hai jo tum apni taraf se dete ho.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُرَاوِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ: " إِيمَانٌ بِاللَّهِ، وَجِهَادٌ فِي سَبِيلِهِ"، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَأَيُّ الرِّقَابِ أَفْضَلُ؟ قَالَ:" أَنْفَسُهَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِهَا، وَأَغْلَاهَا ثَمَنًا"، قَالَ: فَإِنْ لَمْ أَجِدْ؟ قَالَ:" تُعِينُ صَانِعًا، أَوْ تَصْنَعُ لِأَخْرَقَ"، قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ أَسْتَطِعْ؟ قَالَ:" كُفَّ أَذَاكَ عَنِ النَّاسِ، فَإِنَّهَا صَدَقَةٌ تَصَدَّقُ بِهَا عَنْ نَفْسِكَ" .
