Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21719
Abu Habibah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: A man, at the time of his death, willed some dinars from his wealth to be spent in the way of Allah. Abu Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) was asked about it, so he narrated this hadith on the authority of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "The example of the one who frees a slave at the time of his death or gives charity is like the example of a person who, after having drunk his fill, gives away what remains."

ابو حبیبہ رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک آدمی نے مرتے وقت اپنے مال میں سے کچھ دینار اللہ کے راستہ میں خرچ کرنے کی وصیت کی حضرت ابودرداء رضی اللہ عنہ سے اس کے متعلق پوچھا گیا تو انہوں نے نبی کریم ﷺ کے حوالے سے یہ حدیث سنائی کہ جو شخص مرتے وقت کسی غلام کو آزاد کرتا یا صدقہ خیرات کرتا ہے اس کی مثال اس شخص کی سی ہے جو خوب سیراب ہونے کے بعد بچ جانے والی چیز کو ہدیہ کر دے۔
Abu Habibah rahmatullah alaih kehte hain ke ek aadmi ne marte waqt apne maal mein se kuch dinar Allah ke raaste mein kharch karne ki wasiyat ki Hazrat Abu Darda (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se uske mutalliq poocha gaya to unhon ne Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke hawale se ye hadees sunaai ke jo shakhs marte waqt kisi gulam ko aazaad karta ya sadqa khairat karta hai uski misaal us shakhs ki si hai jo khoob seeraab hone ke baad bach jaane wali cheez ko hadiya kar de.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ , عَنْ أَبِي حَبِيبَةَ الطَّائِيِّ , قَالَ: أَوْصَى إِلَيَّ أَخِي بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ مَالِهِ , قَالَ: فَلَقِيتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ , فَقُلْتُ: إِنَّ أَخِي أَوْصَانِي بِطَائِفَةٍ مِنْ مَالِهِ , فَأَيْنَ أَضَعُهُ , فِي الْفُقَرَاءِ , أَوْ فِي الْمُجَاهِدِينَ , أَوْ فِي الْمَسَاكِينَ؟ قَالَ: أَمَّا أَنَا فَلَوْ كُنْتُ لَمْ أَعْدِلْ بِالْمُجَاهِدِينَ , سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " مَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْتِقُ عِنْدَ الْمَوْتِ مَثَلُ الَّذِي يُهْدِي إِذَا شَبِعَ" .
