Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 21997
Narrated by Muadh (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) set out on a journey. This was the event of the Battle of Tabuk. And on this journey, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) combined and shortened the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers. The narrator asked the reason for this, and he said that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wanted to avoid any hardship on his Ummah.

حضرت معاذ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ ایک سفر پر روانہ ہوئے یہ غزوہ تبوک کا واقعہ ہے اور اس سفر میں نبی کریم ﷺ نے ظہر اور عصر، مغرب اور عشاء کو اکٹھا کر کے پڑھا، راوی نے اس کی وجہ پوچھی تو فرمایا کہ نبی کریم ﷺ چاہتے تھے کہ ان کی امت کو تکلیف نہ ہو۔
Hazrat Muaz (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ek safar par rawana huay yeh ghazwa tabuk ka waqeya hai aur is safar mein Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne zohar aur asr, maghrib aur isha ko ikattha kar ke parha, ravi ne is ki wajah poochi to farmaya ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) chahte thay ki un ki ummat ko takleef na ho.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ , حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطُّفَيْلِ , حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ , قَالَ: خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفْرَةٍ سَافَرَهَا , وَذَلِكَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ , " فَجَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْر وَالْعَصْرِ , وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ , قُلْتُ: مَا حَمَلَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ؟ قَالَ: أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا تحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ" .
