Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 22543
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Qatada (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a funeral was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Did he leave any debt behind?" The people replied, "Yes! Two dinars." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Did he leave any inheritance?" The people replied, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then you yourself should lead the funeral prayer of your companion." Upon this Abu Qatada (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! His debt is upon me." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led his funeral prayer.

حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ کے پاس ایک جنازہ لایا گیا نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کیا اس نے اپنے پیچھے کوئی قرض چھوڑا ہے؟ لوگوں نے بتایا جی ہاں! دو دینار، نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کہ ترکہ میں کچھ چھوڑا ہے؟ لوگوں نے بتایا نہیں نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تو پھر اپنے ساتھی کی نماز جنازہ خود ہی پڑھ لو، اس پر حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! اس کا قرض میرے ذمے ہے چنانچہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے اس کی نماز جنازہ پڑھا دی۔
Hazrat Abu Qatada (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas ek janaza laya gaya. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne poocha kya isne apne peeche koi qarz chhoda hai? Logon ne bataya ji haan! Do dinar. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne poocha ki turqah mein kuch chhoda hai? Logon ne bataya nahin. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya to phir apne saathi ki namaz janaza khud hi padh lo. Is par Hazrat Abu Qatada (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne arz kiya Ya Rasul Allah! Iska qarz mere zimme hai. Chunache Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne iski namaz janaza padha di.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجِنَازَةٍ لِيُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ: " أَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ؟" قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، دِينَارَانِ قَالَ:" أَتَرَكَ لَهُمَا وَفَاءً؟" قَالُوا: لَا , قَالَ:" صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ" , قَالَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ: هُمَا عَلَيَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" .
