Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 22586
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Qatada (may Allah be pleased with him) that once a funeral was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Did he leave any debt behind?" The people said, "Yes! Two Dinars." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Did he leave anything in inheritance?" The people said, "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Then you yourself should offer his funeral prayer." Upon this Qatada (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! His debt is upon me." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) offered his funeral prayer.

حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ کے پاس ایک جنازہ لایا گیا نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کیا اس نے اپنے پیچھے کوئی قرض چھوڑا ہے؟ لوگوں نے بتایا جی ہاں! دو دینار نبی کریم ﷺ نے پوچھا کہ ترکہ میں کچھ چھوڑا ہے؟ لوگوں نے بتایا نہیں نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تو پھر اپنے ساتھی کی نماز جنازہ خود ہی پڑھ لو، اس پر حضرت قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا یا رسول اللہ! اس کا قرض میرے ذمے ہے چنانچہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے اس کی نماز جنازہ پڑھا دی۔
Hazrat Abu Qatada Raziallahu Anhu se marvi hai keh aik martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke paas aik janaza laya gaya. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne pucha kya usne apne peeche koi qarz chora hai? Logon ne bataya ji haan! Do dinar. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne pucha keh turkah mein kuch chora hai? Logon ne bataya nahi. Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya to phir apne saathi ki namaz janaza khud hi parh lo, is par Hazrat Qatada Raziallahu Anhu ne arz kiya Ya Rasulullah! Iska qarz mere zimme hai chunacha Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne uski namaz janaza parha di.
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ: أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجِنَازَةٍ يُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا، فَقَالَ: " أَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ؟" قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، دِينَارَانِ , فَقَالَ:" تَرَكَ لَهُمَا وَفَاءً؟" , قَالُوا: لَا , قَالَ:" فَصَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ" , فَقَالَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ: هُمَا عَلَيَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ" .
