Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 22685
It is narrated on the authority of Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked his companions (may Allah be pleased with them): “Who among you considers a martyr?” They said: “The one who fights in the way of Allah and is killed.” The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If that is the case, then the martyrs of my Ummah (nation) would be very few. The one who is killed in the way of Allah is a martyr, the one who dies from the plague is a martyr, the one who dies from a stomach ailment is a martyr, and the woman who dies in the state of childbirth is a martyr.”

حضرت عبادہ بن صامت رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم سے پوچھا تم لوگ اپنے درمیان شہید کسے سمجھتے ہو؟ انہوں نے عرض کیا کہ جو اللہ کے راستہ میں لڑے اور مارا جائے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا اس طرح تو میری امت کے شہداء بہت تھوڑے رہ جائیں گے اللہ تعالیٰ کے راستے میں مارا جانے والا بھی شہید ہے طاعون کی بیماری میں، پیٹ کی بیماری میں اور نفاس کی حالت میں مرنے والی عورت بھی شہید ہے۔
Hazrat Ubadah bin Samat (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Sahaba Karam (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se poocha tum log apne darmiyan shaheed kise samajhte ho? Unhon ne arz kiya ke jo Allah ke raste mein lare aur mara jaye Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya is tarah to meri ummat ke shuhada bahut thore reh jayenge Allah Ta'ala ke raste mein mara jane wala bhi shaheed hai taoon ki bimari mein, pet ki bimari mein aur nifas ki halat mein marne wali aurat bhi shaheed hai.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ الْغَازِ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نُسَيٍّ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: " مَا تَعُدُّونَ الشَّهِيدَ فِيكُمْ؟" قَالُوا: الَّذِي يُقَاتِلُ فَيُقْتَلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" إِنَّ شُهَدَاءَ أُمَّتِي إِذًا لَقَلِيلٌ، الْقَتِيلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى شَهِيدٌ، وَالْمَطْعُونُ شَهِيدٌ، وَالْمَبْطُونُ شَهِيدٌ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ تَمُوتُ بِجُمْعٍ شَهِيدٌ" , يَعْنِي: النُّفَسَاءَ.
