Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 24056
It is narrated on the authority of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that sometimes the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would abandon a certain act that he loved, only for the reason that he feared people might start considering it necessary to follow, which would consequently make it obligatory upon them (and they may not be able to do it). Therefore, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) desired ease for the people in matters of religious obligations.

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ بعض اوقات نبی ﷺ کسی عمل کو محبوب رکھنے کے باوجود صرف اس وجہ سے اسے ترک فرما دیتے تھے کہ کہیں لوگ اس پر عمل نہ کرنے لگیں جس کے نتیجے میں وہ عمل ان پر فرض ہوجائے (اور پھر وہ نہ کرسکیں) اس لئے نبی ﷺ چاہتے تھے کہ لوگوں پر فرائض میں تخفیف ہونا زیادہ بہتر ہے۔
Hazrat Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se marvi hai ke baaz auqat Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kisi amal ko mahboob rakhne ke bawajood sirf is wajah se use tark farma dete thy ke kahin log us par amal na karne lagein jis ke natije mein woh amal un par farz hojaye (aur phir woh na karsakein) is liye Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) chahte thy ke logon par faraiz mein takhfeef hona zyada behtar hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يَتْرُكُ الْعَمَلَ وَهُوَ يُحِبُّ أَنْ يَعْمَلَهُ كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَسْتَنَّ النَّاسُ بِهِ، فَيُفْرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ، فَكَانَ يُحِبُّ مَا خُفِّفَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ الْفَرَائِضِ" .
