Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 25701
Narrated Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say, "When the time of the death of a Prophet approached, he was given the option to choose between being returned to this worldly reward (or being sent back to the world with the illness of death)." I was supporting the Prophet (peace be upon him) with my chest when suddenly I saw his neck relax. I heard him say, "With those on whom Allah has bestowed His Grace, such as the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous. And excellent are those as companions." Then I realized that he had been given the option.

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ فرمایا کرتے تھے جس نبی کی روح قبض ہونے کا وقت آتا تھا، انہیں اس بات کا اختیار دیا جاتا تھا کہ انہیں اس ثواب کی طرف لوٹا کر اس سے ملا دیا جائے (یا دنیا میں بھیج دیا جائے مرض الوفات میں، میں نے نبی ﷺ کو اپنے سینے سے سہارا دیا ہوا تھا کہ اچانک میں نے نبی ﷺ کو دیکھا کہ آپ کی گردن ڈھلک گئی ہے، میں نے انہیں فرماتے ہوئے سنا " ان لوگوں کے ساتھ جن پر اللہ نے انعام فرمایا مثلاً انبیاء اکرام علیہ السلام اور صدیقین، شہداء اور صالحین اور ان کی رفاقت بہت عمدہ ہے " تو میں سمجھ گئی کہ انہیں اختیار دے دیا گیا ہے۔
Hazrat Ayesha Radi Allaho Anha se marvi hai ki Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam farmaya karte thy jiss nabi ki rooh qabz honay ka waqt ata tha, unhen iss baat ka ikhtiyar diya jata tha ki unhen iss sawab ki taraf louta kar iss se mila diya jaye (ya dunya mein bhej diya jaye) marz ul wafat mein, maine Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ko apne seene se sahara diya hua tha ki achanak maine Nabi Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ko dekha ki aap ki gardan dhalak gayi hai, maine unhen farmate huye suna "In logon ke sath jin par Allah ne inaam farmaya mislan Anbiya Ikram Alaihimussalam aur Siddiqeen, Shohada aur Saliheen aur unki rifakat bohat umda hai" to main samajh gayi ki unhen ikhtiyar de diya gaya hai.
حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ لَا يَمُوتُ نَبِيٌّ إِلَّا خُيِّرَ بَيْنَ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ، قَالَتْ: فَأَصَابَتْهُ بُحَّةٌ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: مَعَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ وَالصَّالِحِينَ وَحَسُنَ أُولَئِكَ رَفِيقًا سورة النساء آية 69 فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ خُيِّرَ .
