Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26212
It is narrated on the authority of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "O Allah! If anyone is made in charge of any affair of my Ummah and he makes things difficult for them, then O Allah, make things difficult for him, and if anyone is made in charge of any affair of my Ummah and he is gentle with them, then be gentle with him."

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ اے اللہ! جو شخص میری امت کے کسی معاملے کا ذمہ دار بنے اور انہیں مشقت میں مبتلا کر دے تو یا اللہ تو اس پر مشقت فرما اور جو شخص میری امت کے کسی معاملے کا ذمہ بنے اور ان پر نرمی کرے تو تو اس پر نرمی فرما۔
Hazrat Ayesha ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) se marvi hai keh maine Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko yeh farmate huye suna hai keh aye Allah! Jo shakhs meri ummat ke kisi mamle ka zimmedar bane aur unhen mashaqqat mein مبتلا kar de to ya Allah tu uss per mashaqqat farma aur jo shakhs meri ummat ke kisi mamle ka zimma bane aur un per narmi kare to tu uss per narmi farma.
حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ , قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي , قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ حَرْمَلَةَ الْمِصْرِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ شِمَاسَةَ الْمَهْرِيِّ , قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ , فَقَالَتْ: مَنْ أَنْتَ؟ فَقُلْتُ: أَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ مِصْرَ , فَذَكَرَ قِصَّةً , فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: " اللَّهُمَّ مَنْ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمْرِ أُمَّتِي فَرَفَقَ بِهِمْ , فَارْفُقْ بِهِ , وَمَنْ شَقَّ عَلَيْهِمْ , فَاشْقُقْ عَلَيْهِ" .
