Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26278
It is narrated on the authority of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would observe Itikaf (seclusion in the mosque for worship), he would only enter the house for necessary human needs and would put his head out from the mosque. I would wash it while the threshold of the door was between me and him.

حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ معتکف ہوتے تو صرف انسانی ضرورت کی بناء پر ہی گھر میں آتے تھے اور مسجد سے اپنا سر باہر نکال دیتے، میں اسے دھو دیتی جبکہ میرے اور ان کے درمیان دروازے کی چوکھٹ حائل ہوتی تھی۔
Hazrat Ayesha razi Allah anha se marvi hai ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) aitakaf hote to sirf insani zarurat ki bina par hi ghar mein aate the aur masjid se apna sar bahar nikal dete, main ise dho deti jabke mere aur unke darmiyan darwaze ki chaukhat hail hoti thi.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حُسَيْنٍ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , قَالَتْ:" كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ مُعْتَكِفًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْبَيْتَ إِلَّا لِحَاجَةٍ , قَالَتْ: فَغَسَلْتُ رَأْسَهُ وَإِنَّ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ الْعَتَبَةَ" .
