Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26451
Ibn Abi Malikah reported that someone asked one of the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, I believe it was Hafsah, about the recitation of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. She said, "You cannot bear to recite like that." Then she recited the first three verses of Surah Fatihah, pausing after each verse.

ابن ابی ملیکہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کی کسی زوجہ محترمہ میرے یقین کے مطابق حضرت حفصہ سے نبی ﷺ کی قرأت کے متعلق کسی نے پوچھا تو انہوں نے فرمایا کہ تم اس طرح پڑھنے کی طاقت نہیں رکھتے، پھر انہوں نے سورت فاتحہ کی پہلی تین آیات کو توڑ توڑ کر پڑھ کر (ہر آیت پر وقف کر کے) دکھایا۔
Ibn e Abi Malika se marvi hai keh Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki kisi zojain muhtarima mere yaqeen ke mutabiq Hazrat Hafsa se Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki qirat ke mutaliq kisi ne poocha to unhon ne farmaya keh tum is tarah parhne ki taqat nahi rakhte, phir unhon ne Surah Fatiha ki pehli teen ayat ko tod tod kar parh kar (har ayat par waqf kar ke) dikhaaya.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا نَافِعُ بْنُ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، أَنَّ بَعْضَ أَزْوَاجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَلَا أَعْلَمُهَا إِلَّا حَفْصَةَ ، سُئِلَتْ عَنْ قِرَاءَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَتْ: إِنَّكُمْ لَا تُطِيقُونَهَا , قَالَتْ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ , الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ سورة الفاتحة آية 1 - 1 تَعْنِي التَّرْتِيلَ .
