Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 26562
It is narrated on the authority of Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fasting for two consecutive months except that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to join Sha'ban with the fasts of Ramadan.

حضرت ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ کو دو ماہ کے مسلسل روزے رکھتے ہوئے کبھی نہیں دیکھا، البتہ نبی ﷺ شعبان کو رمضان کے روزے سے ملا دیتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَتْ: مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَامَ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَصِلُ شَعْبَانَ بِرَمَضَانَ .
