The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 2718
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The best companion for a journey is a group of four, the best detachment is four hundred, the best army is four thousand, and twelve thousand (strong force) can never be overcome because of their large number."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے ارشاد فرمایا: ”بہترین رفیق سفر چار آدمی ہوتے ہیں، بہترین سریہ چار سو افراد پر مشتمل ہوتا ہے، بہترین لشکر چار ہزار سپاہیوں پر مشتمل ہوتا ہے اور بارہ ہزار کی تعداد قلت کی وجہ سے مغلوب نہیں ہو سکتی۔“
Sayyidaana Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne irshad farmaya: "Behtarin rafeeq safar chaar aadmi hote hain, behtarin sariya chaar sau afrad par mushtamil hota hai, behtarin lashkar chaar hazaar sipahiyon par mushtamil hota hai aur barah hazaar ki tadad qillat ki wajah se maglub nahi ho sakti."
حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقَيْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" خَيْرُ الْأَصْحَابِ أَرْبَعَةٌ، وَخَيْرُ السَّرَايَا أَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ، وَخَيْرُ الْجُيُوشِ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ". (حديث موقوف) قَالَ: قَالَ: وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" لَنْ يُغْلَبَ قَوْمٌ عَنْ قِلَّةٍ يَبْلُغُونَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ أَلْفًا".
