The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3056
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), a man got wounded. Incidentally, he also had a wet dream. People ordered him to take a bath, which resulted in his death. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to know of this, he said: “They have killed him; may Allah kill them! Was it not the cure for ignorance to ask?”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ عہد نبوت میں ایک آدمی کو کوئی زخم لگ گیا، اتفاق سے اسے خواب بھی آ گیا، لوگوں نے اسے غسل کرنے کا حکم دے دیا، جس کی وجہ سے وہ مر گیا، نبی ﷺ کو جب اس کا علم ہوا تو فرمایا: ”انہوں نے اسے قتل کر دیا، اللہ انہیں قتل کرے، کیا جہالت کا علاج ”پوچھنا“ نہ تھا؟“
Sayyidaana Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ahd nabvi mein ek aadmi ko koi zakhm lag gaya, ittefaq se use khwab bhi aa gaya, logon ne use ghusl karne ka hukm de diya, jis ki wajah se woh mar gaya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko jab is ka ilm hua to farmaya: "Unhon ne use qatl kar diya, Allah unhen qatl kare, kya jahalat ka ilaaj 'puchhna' na tha?".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، قَالَ إِنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يُخْبِرُ أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَصَابَهُ جُرْحٌ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ أَصَابَهُ احْتِلَامٌ، فَأُمِرَ بِالِاغْتِسَالِ، فَمَاتَ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:" قَتَلُوهُ قَتَلَهُمْ اللَّهُ، أَلَمْ يَكُنْ شِفَاءَ الْعِيِّ السُّؤَالُ".
