The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3194
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I slept at the house of my aunt, Umm al-Mu'minin Maymunah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke up during the night, relieved himself, then came back and washed his face and hands and went back to sleep. Then after a while, he woke up again and came to the waterskin, untied its rope, and performed ablution in which he exaggerated (in a good way). Then he stood up to pray. I waited for the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) so that you (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) might not see me. Then I stood up and did what the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had done and came and stood on the left side of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) took hold of me by the ear and turned me so that I was on his right side. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) continued to pray during this time. The Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayer consisted of thirteen rak'ahs, which included the two sunnahs of Fajr. After this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) lay down and slept until the sound of his snoring was heard. A short while later, Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) came and announced the prayer. So, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) got up to lead the prayer and did not perform a fresh ablution. And the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began to supplicate in his prayer or prostration: «اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا وَعَنْ يَمِينِي نُورًا وَعَنْ يَسَارِي نُورًا وَمِنْ فَوْقِي نُورًا وَمِنْ تَحْتِي نُورًا وَمِنْ أَمَامِي نُورًا وَمِنْ خَلْفِي نُورًا وَأَعْظِمْ لِي نُورًا» "O Allah! Make light in my heart, and light in my sight, and light in my hearing, and light on my right, and light on my left, and light above me, and light below me, and light in front of me, and light behind me, and make for me an encompassing light."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ میں اپنی خالہ ام المومنین سیدہ میمونہ بنت حارث رضی اللہ عنہا کے یہاں ایک مرتبہ رات کو سویا، نبی ﷺ رات کو بیدار ہوئے، قضاء حاجت کی، پھر آ کر چہرہ اور ہاتھوں کو دھویا اور دوبارہ سو گئے، پھر کچھ رات گزرنے کے بعد دوبارہ بیدار ہوئے اور مشکیزے کے پاس آ کر اس کی رسی کھولی اور وضو کیا جس میں خوب مبالغہ کیا، پھر نماز پڑھنے کے لئے کھڑے ہوئے، میں نبی ﷺ کا انتظار کرتا رہا تاکہ آپ ﷺ مجھے دیکھ نہ سکیں، پھر کھڑے ہو کر میں نے بھی وہی کیا جو نبی ﷺ نے کیا تھا اور آ کر نبی ﷺ کی بائیں جانب کھڑا ہو گیا۔ نبی ﷺ نے مجھے کان سے پکڑ کر گھمایا تو میں آپ ﷺ کی دائیں طرف پہنچ گیا، نبی ﷺ اس دوران نماز پڑھتے رہے، نبی ﷺ کی نماز کل تیرہ رکعت پر مشتمل تھی، جس میں فجر کی دو سنتیں بھی شامل تھیں، اس کے بعد نبی ﷺ لیٹ کر سو گئے، یہاں تک کہ آپ ﷺ کے خراٹوں کی آواز آنے لگی، تھوڑی دیر بعد سیدنا بلال رضی اللہ عنہ نے آ کر نماز کی اطلاع دی، تو آپ ﷺ نماز پڑھانے کے لئے کھڑے ہو گئے اور تازہ وضو نہیں کیا۔ اور نبی ﷺ اپنی نماز یا سجدے میں یہ دعا کرنے لگے: «اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا وَعَنْ يَمِينِي نُورًا وَعَنْ يَسَارِي نُورًا وَمِنْ فَوْقِي نُورًا وَمِنْ تَحْتِي نُورًا وَمِنْ أَمَامِي نُورًا وَمِنْ خَلْفِي نُورًا وَأَعْظِمْ لِي نُورًا» ”اے اللہ! میرے دل میں نور پیدا فرما دے، میرے کان، میری آنکھ، میرے دائیں، میرے بائیں، میرے آگے، میرے پیچھے، میرے اوپر اور میرے نیچے نور پیدا فرما اور مجھے خود سراپا نور بنا دے۔“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki main apni khala Ummulmomineen Sayyida Maymunah bint Haris ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ا) ke yahan ek martaba raat ko soya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) raat ko bedar hue, qaza hajat ki, phir aa kar chehra aur hathon ko dhoya aur dobara so gaye, phir kuch raat guzarne ke baad dobara bedar hue aur mashizze ke pass aa kar uski rassi kholi aur wuzu kiya jis mein khoob mubalgha kiya, phir namaz padhne ke liye kharay hue, main Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka intezar karta raha takih aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mujhe dekh na sakein, phir kharay ho kar maine bhi wohi kiya jo Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne kiya tha aur aa kar Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki bayein janib khara ho gaya. Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne mujhe kaan se pakar kar ghumaya to main aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki dayein taraf pahunch gaya, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is dauran namaz parhte rahe, Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ki namaz kul terah rakat par mushtamil thi, jis mein fajr ki do sunnaten bhi shamil thin, uske baad Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) lait kar so gaye, yahan tak ki aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke kharaton ki aawaz aane lagi, thori dair baad Sayyidna Bilal (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne aa kar namaz ki ittila di, to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) namaz parhane ke liye kharay ho gaye aur taza wuzu nahin kiya. Aur Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) apni namaz ya sajde mein yeh dua karne lage: «Allahumma ij'al fi qalbi nuran wa fi basari nuran wa fi sam'i nuran wa 'an yaminin nuran wa 'an yasari nuran wa min fawqi nuran wa min tahti nuran wa min amami nuran wa min khalfi nuran wa a'zim li nuran» ”Aye Allah! mere dil mein nur paida farma de, mere kaan, meri aankh, mere dayein, mere bayein, mere aage, mere peechhe, mere upar aur mere neeche nur paida farma aur mujhe khud sarapa nur bana de.“.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ: بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ، فَأَتَى حَاجَتَهُ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ، فَأَتَى الْقِرْبَةَ، فَأَطْلَقَ شِنَاقَهَا، ثُمَّ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءًا بَيْنَ الْوُضُوءَيْنِ، لَمْ يُكْثِرْ وَقَدْ أَبْلَغَ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى، فَقُمْتُ فَتَمَطَّأْتُ، كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَرَى أَنِّي كُنْتُ أَرْتَقِبُهُ، فَتَوَضَّأْتُ، فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي، فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، فَأَخَذَنِي بِأُذُنِي، فَأَدَارَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ، فَتَتَامَّتْ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ، فَنَامَ حَتَّى نَفَخَ، وَكَانَ إِذَا نَامَ نَفَخَ، فَأَتَاهُ بِلَالٌ فَآذَنَهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ، فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ، وَكَانَ يَقُولُ فِي دُعَائِهِ:" اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِي قَلْبِي نُورًا، وَفِي بَصَرِي نُورًا، وَفِي سَمْعِي نُورًا، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي نُورًا، وَعَنْ يَسَارِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ فَوْقِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ تَحْتِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ أَمَامِي نُورًا، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي نُورًا، وَأَعْظِمْ لِي نُورًا". قَالَ كُرَيْبٌ وَسَبْعٌ فِي التَّابُوتِ. قَالَ: فَلَقِيتُ بَعْضَ وَلَدِ الْعَبَّاسِ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِنَّ، فَذَكَرَ عَصَبِي، وَلَحْمِي، وَدَمِي، وَشَعْرِي، وَبَشَرِي. قَالَ: وَذَكَرَ خَصْلَتَيْنِ.
