The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3265
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) combined the Zuhr and 'Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and 'Isha' prayers in Madinah. I asked Sayyiduna Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) what was the Prophet's (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) objective in doing so? He replied that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) intended that your Ummah (nation) should not face hardship.

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی ﷺ نے مدینہ منورہ میں ظہر اور عصر کو اور مغرب اور عشا کو جمع فرمایا۔ میں نے سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے پوچھا کہ اس سے نبی ﷺ کا مقصد کیا تھا؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ آپ ﷺ کا مقصد یہ تھا کہ آپ کی امت تنگی میں نہ رہے۔
Sayyidaana Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai keh aik martaba Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne Madina Munawwara mein Zohar aur Asr ko aur Maghrib aur Isha ko jama farmaya. Mein ne Sayyidaana Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se poocha keh iss se Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka maqsad kya tha? Unhon ne jawab diya keh aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ka maqsad yeh tha keh aap ki ummat tangi mein na rahe.
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ:" صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَمَانِيًا جَمِيعًا، وَسَبْعًا جَمِيعًا. قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: لِمَ فَعَلَ ذَاكَ؟ قَالَ: أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ.
