The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3291
Hasan Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said that once, at the end of Ramadan, Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said in a sermon: “O people of Basra! Pay the zakat of your fast.” The people started looking at each other. He then said: "Is there anyone here from the people of Medina? Get up and teach your brothers, for they do not know that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has prescribed the amount of Sadaqat-ul-Fitr as half a Sa' of wheat, or one Sa' of barley, or one Sa' of dates, which is obligatory on every Muslim, free or slave, male or female."

حسن بصری رحمہ اللہ کہتے ہیں کہ ایک مرتبہ سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما نے ماہ رمضان کے آخر میں خطبہ دیتے ہوئے فرمایا: اے اہل بصرہ! اپنے روزے کی زکوٰۃ ادا کرو، لوگ یہ سن کر ایک دوسرے کو دیکھنے لگے، پھر فرمایا کہ یہاں اہل مدینہ میں سے کون ہے؟ اٹھو اور اپنے بھائیوں کو سکھاؤ کیونکہ وہ نہیں جانتے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے صدقہ فطر کی مقدار نصف صاع گندم، یا ایک صاع جو، یا ایک صاع کھجور مقرر فرمائی ہے جو آزاد اور غلام، مذکر اور مؤنث سب پر ہے۔
Hasan Basri rehmatullah alaih kehte hain ke aik martaba Syedna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a ne mah e Ramzan ke akhir mein khutba dete huye farmaya: Aye ahl e Basra! Apne rozey ki zakat ada karo, log yeh sunkar ek dusre ko dekhne lage, phir farmaya ke yahan ahl e Madina mein se kaun hai? Utho aur apne bhaiyon ko sikhao kyunki woh nahin jante ke Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne sadqa e fitr ki miqdar nisf saa gandum, ya ek saa jau, ya ek saa khajoor muqarrar farmaayi hai jo azad aur ghulam, muzkar aur monis sab par hai.
حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ: خَطَبَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فِي النَّاسَ آخِرِ رَمَضَانَ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَهْلَ الْبَصْرَةِ، أَدُّوا زَكَاةَ صَوْمِكُمْ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَنْظُرُ بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ هَاهُنَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ؟ قُومُوا فَعَلِّمُوا إِخْوَانَكُمْ، فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ" أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَضَ صَدَقَةَ رَمَضَانَ نِصْفَ صَاعٍ مِنْ بُرٍّ، أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ، أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ، عَلَى الْعَبْدِ وَالْحُرِّ، وَالذَّكَرِ وَالْأُنْثَى".
