The Musnad of Abdullah ibn al-Abbas ibn Abd al-Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with them both)

Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 3382
It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to relieve himself. When he came out, he asked for food and started eating. Someone asked: “O Messenger of Allah, will you not perform ablution?” He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Why should I perform ablution when I am not going to pray?”

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ آپ ﷺ بیت الخلاء تشریف لے گئے، پھر باہر آئے، کھانا منگوایا اور کھانے لگے، کسی نے پوچھا: یا رسول اللہ ﷺ ! کیا آپ وضو نہیں کریں گے؟ فرمایا: ”کیوں، میں کوئی نماز پڑھ رہا ہوں جو وضو کروں؟“
Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki ek martaba Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) baitul khala tashreef le gaye, phir bahar aaye, khana manguaya aur khane lage, kisi ne poocha: Ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)! kya aap wuzu nahi karenge? Farmaya: "Kyon, main koi namaz parh raha hoon jo wuzu karoon?".
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ مِنَ الْخَلَاءِ، فَقُرِّبَ إِلَيْهِ طَعَامٌ، فَقَالُوا: أَلَا نَأْتِيكَ بِوَضُوءٍ؟ فَقَالَ:" أُصَلِّي فَأَتَوَضَّأُ".
