Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 7201
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), once the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led one of the two night prayers (the name of which Abu Hurairah mentioned but the narrator, Muhammad, forgot - it was probably Maghrib or Isha). He prayed two rak'ahs and then finished the prayer with salam. He then went to the trunk of a date palm tree in the mosque, which was wide, and gestured with his hand as if he was angry. People who were quick to leave started leaving the mosque, saying the prayer had fewer rak'ahs. Among the people present were Abu Bakr and Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), but they felt hesitant to speak to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) about this matter. Among those people was a man with long arms, who was called Dhul-Yadayn (the one with two hands) because of his long arms. He said, "O Messenger of Allah, did you forget or were the rak'ahs of the prayer less?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "I did not forget, nor were the rak'ahs of the prayer less." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked the Companions, "Is it as Dhul-Yadayn said?" The Companions affirmed it. Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned and offered the remaining rak'ahs that he had missed, and finished the prayer with salam. He then said Allahu Akbar and performed a prostration (sajdah) similar to the prayer's prostration or slightly longer. He then lifted his head, said Allahu Akbar (and sat down). He then said Allahu Akbar again and performed another prostration similar to the first or slightly longer. He then lifted his head from prostration (and said Allahu Akbar). When the narrator, Muhammad, was asked whether the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said the salam, he said, "I was informed that Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then said the salam."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے رات کی دو میں سے کوئی ایک نماز (جس کا نام حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بتایا تھا راوی محمد بھول گئے۔ غالباً مغرب یا عشاء) پڑھائی اور دو رکعتیں پڑھا کر ہی سلام پھیر دیا اور مسجد میں موجود اس تنے کے پاس تشریف لائے جو چوڑائی میں تھا اور اپنے ہاتھ سے ایسا اشارہ کیا گویا کہ آپ ﷺ غصے میں ہوں جلد باز قسم کے لوگ مسجد سے نکلنے اور کہنے لگے کہ نماز کی رکعتیں کم ہو گئیں اس وقت لوگوں میں حضرت ابوبکر صدیق رضی اللہ عنہ اور حضرت عمر فاروق رضی اللہ عنہ بھی تھے لیکن اس معاملے میں نبی کریم ﷺ سے گفتگو کرنے میں انہیں ہیبت محسوس ہوئی انہی لوگوں میں ایک اور آدمی بھی تھا جس کے ہاتھ کچھ زیادہ لمبے تھے اور اسی بناء پر اسے ذوالیدین کہا جاتا تھا اس نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا آپ بھول گئے یا نماز کی رکعتیں کم ہو گئی ہیں؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: میں بھولا ہوں اور نہ ہی نماز کی رکعتیں کم ہوئی ہیں پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے صحابہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے پوچھا کیا ایسا ہی ہے جیسے ذوالیدین کہہ رہے ہیں؟ صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کی تائید کی اس پر نبی کریم ﷺ واپس تشریف لائے اور جتنی رکعتیں چھوٹ گئی تھیں انہیں ادا کیا اور سلام پھیر کر اللہ اکبر کہا اور نماز کے سجدہ کی طرح یا اس سے کچھ طویل سجدہ کیا پھر سر اٹھا کر تکبیر کہی (اور بیٹھ گئے پھر دوبارہ تکبیر کہہ کر دوسرا سجدہ کیا جو پہلے کی طرح یا اس سے کچھ طویل تھا پھر سجدہ سے سر اٹھا کر (تکبیر کہی) محمدنامی راوی سے جب پوچھا جاتا تھا کہ کیا نبی کریم ﷺ نے پھر سلام پھیرا؟ تو وہ کہتے کہ مجھے خبردی گئی ہے کہ حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ پھر نبی کریم ﷺ نے سلام پھیرا۔
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki ek martaba Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ne raat ki do mein se koi ek namaz (jis ka naam Hazrat Abu Hurairah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne bataya tha ravi Muhammad bhul gaye. Ghaliban Maghrib ya Isha) padhai aur do rakaten padh kar hi salam phir diya aur masjid mein mojood us tane ke paas tashreef laaye jo chhodaayi mein tha aur apne haath se aisa ishara kiya goya ki aap Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ghusse mein hain jald baaz qisam ke log masjid se nikalne aur kahne lage ki namaz ki rakaten kam ho gayin is waqt logon mein Hazrat Abubakar Siddique (رضي الله تعالى عنه) aur Hazrat Umar Farooq (رضي الله تعالى عنه) bhi the lekin is mamle mein Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam se guftgu karne mein unhen haibat mehsoos hui inhi logon mein ek aur aadmi bhi tha jis ke haath kuchh zyada lambe the aur isi bina par use Dhul'aydain kaha jata tha usne arz kiya: Ya Rasulullah! kya aap bhul gaye ya namaz ki rakaten kam ho gayin hain? Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ne farmaya: mein bhula hun aur na hi namaz ki rakaten kam hui hain phir Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ne sahaba (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se poochha kya aisa hi hai jaise Dhul'aydain kah rahe hain? Sahaba kiram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne un ki taiyd ki is par Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam wapas tashreef laaye aur jitni rakaten chhut gayin thin unhen ada kiya aur salam phir kar Allah-o-Akbar kaha aur namaz ke sijde ki tarah ya us se kuchh tawil sijda kiya phir sar utha kar takbir kahi (aur baith gaye phir dobara takbir kah kar dusra sijda kiya jo pehle ki tarah ya us se kuchh tawil tha phir sijde se sar utha kar (takbir kahi) Muhammad nami ravi se jab poochha jata tha ki kya Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ne phir salam phira? to woh kahte hain ki mujhe khabar di gayi hai ki Hazrat Imran bin Husain (رضي الله تعالى عنه) farmate hain ki phir Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam ne salam phira.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ:" صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِحْدَى صَلَاتَيْ الْعَشِيِّ، قَالَ: ذَكَرَهَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ وَنَسِيَهَا مُحَمَّدٌ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، وَأَتَى خَشَبَةً مَعْرُوضَةً فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَقَالَ: بِيَدِهِ عَلَيْهَا، كَأَنَّهُ غَضْبَانُ، وَخَرَجَتْ السَّرَعَانُ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ، قَالُوا: قُصِرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ، قَالَ: وَفِي الْقَوْمِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ، فَهَابَاهُ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَاهُ، وَفِي الْقَوْمِ رَجُلٌ فِي يَدَيْهِ طُولٌ، يُسَمَّى: ذَا الْيَدَيْنِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَنَسِيتَ أَمْ قُصِرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ؟ فَقَالَ:" لَمْ أَنْسَ، وَلَمْ تُقْصَرْ الصَّلَاةُ"، قَالَ:" كَمَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ؟" قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، قال: فَجَاءَ فَصَلَّى الَّذِي تَرَكَ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ، فَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ، أَوْ أَطْوَلَ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَكَبَّرَ". قَالَ: فَكَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ يُسْأَلُ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ؟ فَيَقُولُ: نُبِّئْتُ أَنَّ عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُصَيْنٍ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ.
