Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 7232
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have been ordered to go to a city which will eat up all other cities. People call it Yathrib, whereas its real name is Medina. And Medina removes the sins of its people just as the furnace of a blacksmith removes the impurities of iron."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: مجھے ایسی بستی میں جانے کا حکم ملا جو دوسری تمام بستیوں کو کھآ جائے گی۔ لوگ اسے یثرب کہتے ہیں حالانکہ اس کا صحیح نام مدینہ ہے اور مدینہ لوگوں کے گناہوں کو ایسے دور کردیتا ہے جیسے لوہار کی بھٹی لوہے کے میل کچیل کو دور کردیتی ہے۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai keh Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: mujhe aisi basti mein jaane ka hukum mila jo dusri tamam bastion ko kha jayegi. Log ise Yasrab kehte hain halanki iska sahi naam Madina hai aur Madina logon ke gunahon ko aise door karta hai jaise lohar ki bhatti lohe ke mail kachil ko door kar deti hai.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" أُمِرْتُ بِقَرْيَةٍ تَأْكُلُ الْقُرَى، يَقُولُونَ يَثْرِبُ، وَهِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ تَنْفِي النَّاسَ، كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ".
