The Musnad of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him)
مسنَد اَبِی هرَیرَةَ رَضِیَ اللَّه عَنه
Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 8116
And the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The example of me and the Prophets before me is like that of a man who built a very beautiful and complete building, except that he left the space of one brick in a corner. People would go around it, amazed, and say, 'We have not seen a better building than this, except for the space of this brick.' So I am that brick."

اور نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا میری اور مجھ سے پہلے انبیاء کی مثال ایسے ہے جیسے کسی آدمی نے ایک نہایت حسین و جمیل اور مکمل عمارت بنائی البتہ اس کے ایک کونے میں ایک اینٹ کی جگہ چھوڑ دی لوگ اس کے گرد چکر لگاتے تعجب کرتے اور کہتے جاتے تھے کہ ہم نے اس سے عمدہ عمارت کوئی نہیں دیکھی سوائے اس اینٹ کی جگہ کے سو وہ اینٹ میں ہوں۔
Aur Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya meri aur mujh se pehle anbiya ki misaal aise hai jaise kisi aadmi ne ek nihayat haseen o jameel aur mukammal imarat banayi albatta us ke ek kone mein ek eent ki jagah chhor di log us ke gird chakkar lagate taajjub karte aur kehte jate the ke hum ne is se umdah imarat koi nahi dekhi siwaye is eent ki jagah ke so wo eent mein hun.
وَقَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ مِنْ قَبْلِي كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ ابْتَنَى بُيُوتًا، فَأَحْسَنَهَا وَأَكْمَلَهَا وَأَجْمَلَهَا إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ لَبِنَةٍ مِنْ زَاوِيَةٍ مِنْ زَوَايَاهَا، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَطُوفُونَ، وَيُعْجِبُهُمْ الْبُنْيَانُ، فَيَقُولُونَ: أَلَا وَضَعْتَ هَاهُنَا لَبِنَةً، فَيَتِمُّ بُنْيَانُكَ" فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:" فَكُنْتُ أَنَا اللَّبِنَةَ" .
