Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 8358
It is narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that once someone asked the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), "Which prayer is the most virtuous after the obligatory prayers?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) replied, "The prayer that is offered in the middle of the night." The questioner asked, "Which fast is most virtuous after the fasts of Ramadan?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The fasts of the month of Allah which you call Muharram."

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ نبی کریم ﷺ سے کسی نے پوچھا فرض نمازوں کے بعد کون سی نماز سب سے زیادہ افضل ہے؟ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا رات کے درمیانی حصے میں پڑھی جانے والی نماز سائل نے پوچھا کہ ماہ رمضان کے روزہ کے بعد کس دن کا روزہ سب سے زیادہ افضل ہے؟ فرمایا اللہ کا مہینہ جسے تم محرم کہتے ہو (اس کے روزے افضل ہیں)
Hazrat Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu se marvi hai ki aik martaba Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se kisi ne poocha farz namaazon ke baad kon si namaz sab se zyada afzal hai Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya raat ke darmiyani hisse mein parhi jane wali namaz Sail ne poocha ki mah e Ramzan ke roza ke baad kis din ka roza sab se zyada afzal hai Farmaya Allah ka mahina jise tum muharram kehte ho (is ke roze afzal hain)
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْتَشِرِ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَيُّ الصَّلَاةِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ؟ قَالَ: " الصَّلَاةُ فِي جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ"، قَالَ: فَأَيُّ الصِّيَامِ أَفْضَلُ بَعْدَ رَمَضَانَ؟ قَالَ:" شَهْرُ اللَّهِ الَّذِي تَدْعُونَهُ الْمُحَرَّمَ" .
