Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 9444
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): Once I was praying Zuhr prayer when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) mistakenly offered two rak'ahs and ended the prayer with salam. A man from Banu Salim stood up and asked, "O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or have you forgotten?" The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "The prayer has been shortened, and I have not forgotten." The man said, "O Messenger of Allah, you prayed only two rak'ahs." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked the people, "Is Dhul-Yadayn (the one with two rings, referring to the man) truthful?" The people said, "Yes." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stood up, prayed two more rak'ahs, offered salam, and then performed two prostrations of forgetfulness.

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ تعالی عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک مرتبہ میں ظہر کی نماز پڑھ رہا تھا کہ نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے بھولے سے دو رکعتیں پڑھا کر سلام پھیر دیا، بنو سلیم کے ایک آدمی نے کھڑے ہو کر پوچھا یا رسول اللہ (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کیا نماز میں کمی ہوگئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے ہیں ؟ اس پر نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے فرمایا نماز میں کمی ہوئی ہے اور نہ میں بھولا ہوں، اس نے کہا یا رسول اللہ ! آپ نے دو رکعتیں پڑھائی ہیں، نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے لوگوں سے پوچھا کہ ذوالیدین سچ کہہ رہے ہیں ؟ لوگوں نے کہا جی ہاں ! تو نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کھڑے ہوئے، دو رکعتیں مزید ملائیں اور سلام پھیر کر سہو کے دو سجدے کر لئے۔
Hazrat Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu se marvi hai ki ek martaba mein Zuhar ki namaz parh raha tha ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne bhoole se do rak'aten parh kar salam phir diya, Banu Saleem ke ek aadmi ne kharay ho kar poocha ya Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kya namaz mein kami hogayi hai ya aap bhul gaye hain? Is par Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya namaz mein kami hui hai aur na mein bhoola hun, usne kaha ya Rasulullah! Aap ne do rak'aten parhai hain, Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne logon se poocha ki Zawalideen sach keh rahe hain? Logon ne kaha ji haan! To Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kharay huye, do rak'aten mazeed milayen aur salam phir kar sahu ke do sajde kar liye.
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَقَصُرَتْ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ تَقْصُرْ وَلَمْ أَنْسَهْ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّمَا صَلَّيْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَقٌّ مَا يَقُولُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ آخِرَتَيْنِ قَالَ يَحْيَى حَدَّثَنِي ضَمْضَمُ بْنُ جَوْسٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَقُولُ ثُمَّ سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ
