Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 9712
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that upon the recitation of the verse of prostration in Surah An-Najm, the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and all the Muslims (in fact, all the polytheists) prostrated except two men from the Quraysh who wanted to make a name for themselves.

حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ سورت نجم کی آیت سجدہ پر نبی کریم ﷺ اور تمام مسلمانوں (بلکہ تمام مشرکین) نے سجدہ کیا سوائے (مشرکین میں سے) قریش کے دو آدمیوں کے جو اپنی شہرت کروانا چاہتے تھے۔

حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ خَالِهِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ: " سَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمُسْلِمُونَ فِي النَّجْمِ، إِلَّا رَجُلَيْنِ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ، أَرَادَا بِذَلِكَ الشُّهْرَةَ" .
