Musnad Ahmad ibn Hanbal 9809
It is narrated in the previous Hadith that Ma'az bin Malik Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed the sin of adultery." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned his face away upon hearing this. He came from the right side and said the same. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) again turned his face away. He then came from the left side and submitted the same. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) again turned away. But when he confessed the fourth time, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Take him and stone him to death." Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) took him away. The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "When the stones hit him, he ran away." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Then why did you not leave him?"

گزشتہ سند سے ہی سے مروی ہے کہ حضرت ماعز بن مالک اسلمی رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریم ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوئے اور کہنے لگے یا رسول اللہ ﷺ مجھ سے بدکاری کا گناہ سرزد ہوگیا ہے نبی کریم ﷺ نے یہ سن کر منہ پھیرلیا انہوں نے دائیں جانب سے آ کر یہی کہا نبی کریم ﷺ نے پھر منہ پھیرلیا پھر بائیں جانب سے آ کر یہی عرض کیا نبی کریم ﷺ نے پھر اعراض فرمایا لیکن جب چوتھی مرتبہ بھی انہوں نے اقرار کیا تو نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا کہ انہیں لے جا کر ان پر حد رجم جاری کرو صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ انہیں لے گئے صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی کریم ﷺ سے ذکر کیا کہ جب انہیں پتھر لگے تو وہ بھاگ رہے تھے نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا تو پھر تم نے انہیں چھوڑ کیوں نہ دیا؟

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ , أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَة ، قَالَ: جَاءَ مَاعِزُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ الْأَسْلَمِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي قَدْ زَنَيْتُ. فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ مِنْ شِقِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي قَدْ زَنَيْتُ. فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ مِنْ شِقِّهِ الْأَيْسَرِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي قَدْ زَنَيْتُ. فَقَالَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ أَرْبَعَ مَرَّاتٍ، فَقَالَ: " انْطَلِقُوا بِهِ فَارْجُمُوهُ"، وَقَالَ: فَانْطَلَقُوا بِهِ، فَلَمَّا مَسَّتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ أَدْبَرَ وَاشْتَدَّ، فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُ رَجُلٌ فِي يَدِهِ لَحْيُ جَمَلٍ، فَضَرَبَهُ بِهِ، فَذُكِرَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِرَارُهُ حِينَ مَسَّتْهُ الْحِجَارَةُ , قَالَ:" فَهَلَّا تَرَكْتُمُوهُ" .
