Abdullah bin Auf narrated: I was behind Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) in a funeral prayer, and he recited Surat al-Fatihah only. When he finished the prayer, I asked him about it, and he said: “This is the Sunnah and it is the right way.” Ibrahim bin Sa’d said that he also recited Surat al-Fatihah and another Surah.

(٦٩٥٤) عبداللہ بن عوف فرماتے ہیں : میں جنازے میں ابن عباس (رض) کے پیچھے تھا تو انھوں نے سو رہ الفاتحہ پڑھی، جب سلام پھیرا تو میں نے اس کے متعلق پوچھا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : یہ سنت ہے اور حق ہے۔ ابراہیم بن سعد نے کہا کہ سو رہ فاتحہ اور کوئی سورت بھی پڑھی۔
(6954) Abdullah bin Auf farmate hain : mein janaze mein Ibn Abbas (RA) ke peeche tha to unhon ne so rah Fatiha parhi, jab salam phera to maine iske mutalliq poocha to unhon ne farmaya : yeh sunnat hai aur haq hai. Ibrahim bin Saad ne kaha ki so rah Fatiha aur koi surat bhi parhi.
Abdullah bin Auf narrated: I was with Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) at a funeral. He recited Surat al-Fatihah and said, "This is the Sunnah."

(٦٩٥٥) عبداللہ بن عوف فرماتے ہیں : میں ابن عباس (رض) کے ساتھ ایک جنازے میں تھا، انھوں نے سورة فاتحہ پڑھی اور فرمایا : کہ یہ سنت ہے۔
(6955) Abdullah bin Auf farmate hain : main Ibn Abbas (RA) ke sath ek janaze mein tha, unhon ne Surah Fatiha padhi aur farmaya : keh yeh sunnat hai.
Abdullah bin Auf narrated: I offered the funeral prayer behind Ibn Abbas. I heard him reciting Surat Al-Fatiha. When he finished, I asked him about it, and he said: It is Sunnah and the truth. In another narration, he did not mention "and the truth."

(٦٩٥٦) عبداللہ بن عوف فرماتے ہیں : میں نے ابن عباس (رض) کے پیچھے جنازہ پڑھا ۔ میں نے سنا کہ وہ سورة فاتحہ پڑھ رہے ہیں جب وہ پھرے تو میں نے اس کے متعلق ان سے سوال کیا تو انھوں نے فرمایا : کہ یہ سنت ہے اور حق ہے، دوسری روایت میں ہے کہ انھوں نے حق کا ذکر نہیں کیا۔
Abdullah bin Auf farmate hain : main ne Ibn Abbas (rz) ke peeche janaza parha . main ne suna ke woh Sura Fatiha parh rahe hain jab woh phire to main ne is ke mutalliq un se sawal kiya to unhon ne farmaya : ke yeh sunnat hai aur haq hai, dusri riwayat mein hai ke unhon ne haq ka zikar nahin kiya.
Saeed bin Abu Saeed said: I heard Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reciting Surah Fatiha in a loud voice while he was sleeping. And he said, "I did this so that you may know that it is Sunnah."

(٦٩٥٧) سعید بن ابو سعید کہتے ہیں : میں نے ابن عباس (رض) سے سنا وہ بآواز بلند سو رہ فاتحہ پڑھ رہے تھے اور فرمایا کہ میں نے ایسا اس لیے کیا ہے تاکہ تم جان لو کہ یہ سنت ہے۔
Saeed bin Abu Saeed kehte hain : main ne Ibn Abbas (RA) se suna woh baawaz buland sote Fateha parh rahe the aur farmaya keh main ne aisa is liye kiya hai taake tum jaan lo keh yeh sunnat hai.
Jabir ibn Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) uttered four Takbirs over the deceased and recited Umm al-Quran (Surah al-Fatihah) after the first Takbir.

(٦٩٥٨) حضرت جابر بن عبداللہ (رض) فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) نے میت پر چار تکبیرات کہیں اور تکبیر اولیٰ کے بعد ام القرآن (سو رہ فاتحہ) پڑھی۔
6958 Hazrat Jabir bin Abdullah (RA) farmate hain ki Nabi Kareem ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ne mayyat par chaar takbeerat kahin aur takbeer ula ke baad Al-Quran (Sura Fatiha) padhi.
Abu Umama bin Sahl narrated that a companion of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) reported that the Sunnah in funeral prayer is that the Imam should say Takbeer, then after the first Takbeer, he should recite Surah Fatiha silently in his heart. Then he should recite Durood upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and in the Takbeers, he should pray sincerely for the deceased and not recite anything, then he should say Salam silently.

(٦٩٥٩) ابو امامہ بن سہل فرماتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ایک صحابی (رض) نے خبر دی کہ نمازِ جنازہ میں سنت یہ ہے کہ امام تکبیر کہے، پھر تکبیر اولیٰ کے بعدسورۃ الفاتحہ اپنے دل میں مخفیپڑھے۔ پھر نبی (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) پر درود پڑھے اور تکبیرات میں میت کے لیے خلوص کے ساتھ دعا کرے اور کچھ نہ پڑھے، پھر دل میں سلام پھیرے ۔
6959 Abu Umama bin Sahl farmate hain ke Nabi Kareem ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke aik sahabi (Razi Allahu Anhu) ne khabar di ke namaz-e-janaza mein sunnat yeh hai ke imam takbeer kahe phir takbeer-e-oola ke baad Surah Fatiha apne dil mein makhfi padhe phir Nabi ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) par durood padhe aur takbeerat mein mayyat ke liye khuloos ke sath dua kare aur kuch na padhe phir dil mein salam phire.
Abu Umama (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from a companion (may Allah be pleased with him) of the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Mutraf considered this narration to be strong in the context of Surah Fatiha.

(٦٩٦٠) ابو امامہ (رض) نبی کریم (صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم) کے ایک صحابی (رض) سے نقل فرماتے ہیں۔ مطرف نے اس روایت کو سورة الفاتحہ کے تذکرے میں قوی قراردیا ہے۔
(6960) Abu Imama (Razi Allah Anhu) Nabi Kareem ((صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم)) ke aik Sahabi (Razi Allah Anhu) se naqal farmate hain. Mutraf ne is riwayat ko Surah Fatiha ke tazkare mein qawi qarardya hai.
'Ubayd bin Sabbaq reported: Sahl bin Hunaif led us in the funeral prayer. After the first takbir, he recited Surat al-Fatihah, which I heard from behind. Then he said the takbirs, until one takbir remained. Then he recited the tashahhud (sitting) like the tashahhud of the prayer, then said the takbir, and then (they) left.

(٦٩٦١) عبید بن سباق فرماتے ہیں : ہمیں سہل بن حنیف نے جنازے کی نماز پڑھائی، جب تکبیر اولیٰ پڑھی تو سورة الفاتحہ پڑھی حتیٰ کہ میں نے پیچھے سنی۔ پھر اس کے بعد تکبیرات کہیں، یہاں تک کہ ایک تکبیر باقی رہ گئی۔ پھر نماز کے تشہد کی طرح تشہد پڑھا پھر تکبیر کہی اور پھرگئے۔
Obaid bin Sabaq farmate hain : humain Sahl bin Hanif ne janaze ki namaz parhayi, jab takbeer ula parhayi to sura e fateha parhayi hatta ke maine peeche suni. phir is ke bad takbeerat kaheen, yahan tak ke ek takbeer baqi reh gayi. phir namaz ke tashahud ki tarah tashahud parha phir takbeer kahi aur phir gaye.
