Chapter: To look for the night of Qadr in the last seven nights (of Ramadan)

باب الْتِمَاسِ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ فِي السَّبْعِ الأَوَاخِرِ

Ibn Umar (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated that some people among the companions of the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) were shown in their dreams that the night of Qadr was in the last seven nights of Ramadan. Allah's Apostle (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said, ‘it seems that all your dreams agree that (the night of Qadr) is in the last seven nights, and whoever wants to search for it, should search in the last seven (nights of Ramadan).

حضرت عبد اللہ بن عمر  ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی ﷺ کے چند صحابہ کرام رضوان اللہ عنھم اجمعین کو دوران خواب میں رمضان کی آخری سات راتوں میں شب قدر دکھائی گئی۔ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’میں دیکھ رہا ہوں کہ تمھارےسب کے خواب آخری سات راتوں پر متفق ہوگئے ہیں۔ اس لیے جو اس کو تلاش کرنا چاہے وہ آخری ساتھ راتوں میں تلاش کرے۔‘‘

Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai ke Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke chand Sahaba-e-Karam (Ridwanullahi Alaihim Ajmaeen) ko douran-e-khwab mein Ramadan ki aakhri saat raatoon mein Shab-e-Qadar dikhayi gayi. Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ne farmaya: "Main dekh raha hoon ke tumhare sab ke khwab aakhri saat raatoon par muttafiq ho gaye hain. Is liye jo is ko talash karna chahe wo aakhri saat raatoon mein talash kare."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّ رِجَالًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُرُوا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ فِي الْمَنَامِ فِي السَّبْعِ الْأَوَاخِرِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَرَى رُؤْيَاكُمْ قَدْ تَوَاطَأَتْ فِي السَّبْعِ الْأَوَاخِرِ ، فَمَنْ كَانَ مُتَحَرِّيهَا فَلْيَتَحَرَّهَا فِي السَّبْعِ الْأَوَاخِرِ .

Abu Salama narrated that he asked Abu Sa`id (رضي الله تعالى عنه), and he was his friend, (about the Night of Qadr) and he said, ‘we practiced I`tikaf (seclusion in the mosque) in the middle third of the month of Ramadan with the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) . In the morning of the 20th of Ramadan, the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) came and addressed us and said, 'I was informed of (the date of the Night of Qadr) but I was caused to forget it; so search for it in the odd nights of the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan. (In the dream) I saw myself prostrating in mud and water (as a sign). So, whoever was in I`tikaf with me should return to it with me (for another 10-day's period)', and we returned. At that time there was no sign of clouds in the sky but suddenly a cloud came, and it rained till rainwater started leaking through the roof of the mosque which was made of date-palm leaf stalks. Then the prayer was called, and I saw Allah's Apostle ( صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) prostrating in mud and water and I saw the traces of mud on his forehead.’

حضرت ابو سعید خدری  ؓ سے روایت ہے، انھوں نے فرمایا کہ ہم نے نبی ﷺ کے ہمراہ رمضان کے درمیانی عشرے کا اعتکاف کیا تو آپ بیسویں تاریخ کی صبح (اعتکاف گاہ سے) باہر تشریف لائے اور ہم سے مخاطب ہوتے ہوئے فرمایا: ’’مجھے خواب میں شب قدر دکھائی گئی تھی۔ مگر مجھے بھلادی گئی۔‘‘ یا فرمایا: ’’میں ازخود بھول گیا۔ لہٰذا اب تم اسے آخری عشرے کی طاق راتوں میں تلاش کرو۔ میں نے خواب میں ایسا دیکھا گویا کیچڑمیں سجدہ کر رہا ہوں۔ لہٰذا جس شخص نے میرے ساتھ اعتکاف کیا تھا وہ واپس لوٹ آئے (اور اعتکاف کرے)۔‘‘ چنانچہ ہم واپس آگئے اور اس وقت آسمان پر بادل کا نشان تک نہ تھا لیکن اچانک بادل امڈ آیا اور اتنا برسا کہ مسجد کی چھت ٹپکنے لگی اور وہ کھجور کی شاخوں سے بنی ہوئی تھی۔ پھر نماز کھڑی کی گئی تو میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو کیچڑ میں سجدہ کرتے ہوئے دیکھا یہاں تک کہ میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کی پیشانی پر مٹی کے نشانات دیکھے۔

Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne farmaya ke hum ne Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ke humrah Ramadan ke darmiyani ashre ka itikaf kiya to aap beesvein tareekh ki subha (itikaf gah se) baahar tashreef laye aur hum se mukhatib hote huye farmaya: "Mujhe khwab mein Shab-e-Qadar dikhayi gayi thi. Magar mujhe bhula di gayi." Ya farmaya: "Main az-khud bhool gaya. Lehaza ab tum ise aakhri ashre ki taaq raatoon mein talash karo. Main ne khwab mein aisa dekha goya kichar mein sajda kar raha hoon. Lehaza jis shakhs ne mere sath itikaf kiya tha wo wapas laut aaye (aur itikaf kare)." Chunanche hum wapas aa gaye aur is waqt aasman par baadal ka nishan tak na tha lekin achanak baadal umand aaya aur itna barsa ke masjid ki chhat tapakne lagi aur wo khajur ki shakhon se bani hui thi. Phir namaz khari ki gayi to main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ko kichar mein sajda karte huye dekha yahan tak ke main ne Rasool Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) ki paishani par mitti ke nishanat dekhe.

حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ وَكَانَ لِي صَدِيقًا ، فَقَالَ : اعْتَكَفْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَشْرَ الْأَوْسَطَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ، فَخَرَجَ صَبِيحَةَ عِشْرِينَ فَخَطَبَنَا ، وَقَالَ : إِنِّي أُرِيتُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ ، ثُمَّ أُنْسِيتُهَا أَوْ نُسِّيتُهَا ، فَالْتَمِسُوهَا فِي الْعَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ فِي الْوَتْرِ ، وَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَنِّي أَسْجُدُ فِي مَاءٍ وَطِينٍ ، فَمَنْ كَانَ اعْتَكَفَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلْيَرْجِعْ ، فَرَجَعْنَا وَمَا نَرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ قَزَعَةً ، فَجَاءَتْ سَحَابَةٌ فَمَطَرَتْ ، حَتَّى سَالَ سَقْفُ الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَكَانَ مِنْ جَرِيدِ النَّخْلِ ، وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْجُدُ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالطِّينِ حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ أَثَرَ الطِّينِ فِي جَبْهَتِهِ .
