Abu Juhaifa (رضي الله تعالى عنه) narrated, ‘I asked Ali (رضي الله تعالى عنه), ‘do you have the knowledge of any Divine Inspiration besides what is in Allah’s ( ه وَ جَلهعَز) Book?’ Ali ( رضي الله تعالى عنه) replied, ‘no, by Him Who splits the grain of corn and creates the soul. I don't think we have such knowledge, but we have the ability of understanding which Allah ( ه وَجَلهعَز) may endow a person with, so that he may understand the Quran, and we have what is written in this paper as well’ I asked, ‘what is written in this paper?’ He replied, ‘(The regulations of) blood-money, the freeing of captives, and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed for killing an infidel.’
حضرت ابو جحیفہ ؓسے روایت ہے، انھوں نے کہا کہ میں نے حضرت علی ؓسے پوچھا: کیا کتاب اللہ کے علاوہ بھی وحی کا کچھ حصہ تمھارے پاس موجود ہے؟ انھوں نے فرمایا: اس ذات کی قسم جس نے دانے کو پھاڑا اور جان کو پیدا کیا!مجھے تو کسی ایسی وحی کا علم نہیں، البتہ فہم و فراست ایک دوسری چیز ہے جو اللہ تعالیٰ قرآن فہمی کے لیے عطا کرتا ہے یا جو اس دستاویز میں ہے۔ میں نے عرض کیا: اس صحیفے میں کیا ہے؟ انھوں نے فرمایا: اس میں دیت کے مسائل، قیدی کو رہائی دلانے کی فضلیت اور یہ کہ کسی مسلمان کو کافر کے بدلےقتل نہ کیا جائے۔
Hazrat Abu Juhaifah (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha ke mein ne Hazrat Ali (Radi Allahu Anhu) se pucha: Kya Kitabullah ke alawa bhi wahi ka kuch hissa tumhare paas maujood hai? Unhon ne farmaya: Is zaat ki qasam jis ne dane ko phara aur jaan ko paida kiya! Mujhe to kisi aaisi wahi ka ilm nahi, albatta fehm-o-farasat ek dusri cheez hai jo Allah Ta'ala Quran-fahmi ke liye ata karta hai ya jo is dastawez mein hai. Mein ne arz kiya: Is sahife mein kya hai? Unhon ne farmaya: Is mein diyat ke masail, qaidi ko rahai dilane ki fazilat aur yeh ke kisi musalman ko kafir ke badle qatl na kiya jaye.
