Narrated Sa`id bin Jubair: I said to Ibn `Abbas, Nauf Al-Bukah claims that Moses, the companion of Al-Khadir was not Moses (the prophet) of the children of Israel, but some other Moses. Ibn `Abbas said, Allah's enemy (i.e. Nauf) has told a lie. Ubai bin Ka`b told us that the Prophet said, 'Once Moses stood up and addressed Bani Israel. He was asked who was the most learned man amongst the people. He said, 'I.' Allah admonished him as he did not attribute absolute knowledge to Him (Allah). So, Allah said to him, 'Yes, at the junction of the two seas there is a Slave of Mine who is more learned than you.' Moses said, 'O my Lord! How can I meet him?' Allah said, 'Take a fish and put it in a large basket and you will find him at the place where you will lose the fish.' Moses took a fish and put it in a basket and proceeded along with his (servant) boy, Yusha` bin Noon, till they reached the rock where they laid their heads (i.e. lay down). Moses slept, and the fish, moving out of the basket, fell into the sea. It took its way into the sea (straight) as in a tunnel. Allah stopped the flow of water over the fish and it became like an arch (the Prophet pointed out this arch with his hands). They travelled the rest of the night, and the next day Moses said to his boy (servant), 'Give us our food, for indeed, we have suffered much fatigue in this journey of ours.' Moses did not feel tired till he crossed that place which Allah had ordered him to seek after. His boy (servant) said to him, 'Do you know that when we were sitting near that rock, I forgot the fish, and none but Satan caused me to forget to tell (you) about it, and it took its course into the sea in an amazing way?.' So there was a path for the fish and that astonished them. Moses said, 'That was what we were seeking after.' So, both of them retraced their footsteps till they reached the rock. There they saw a man Lying covered with a garment. Moses greeted him and he replied saying, 'How do people greet each other in your land?' Moses said, 'I am Moses.' The man asked, 'Moses of Bani Israel?' Moses said, 'Yes, I have come to you so that you may teach me from those things which Allah has taught you.' He said, 'O Moses! I have some of the Knowledge of Allah which Allah has taught me, and which you do not know, while you have some of the Knowledge of Allah which Allah has taught you and which I do not know.' Moses asked, 'May I follow you?' He said, 'But you will not be able to remain patient with me for how can you be patient about things which you will not be able to understand?' (Moses said, 'You will find me, if Allah so will, truly patient, and I will not disobey you in aught.') So, both of them set out walking along the sea-shore, a boat passed by them and they asked the crew of the boat to take them on board. The crew recognized Al-Khadir and so they took them on board without fare. When they were on board the boat, a sparrow came and stood on the edge of the boat and dipped its beak once or twice into the sea. Al-Khadir said to Moses, 'O Moses! My knowledge and your knowledge have not decreased Allah's Knowledge except as much as this sparrow has decreased the water of the sea with its beak.' Then suddenly Al-Khadir took an adze and plucked a plank, and Moses did not notice it till he had plucked a plank with the adze. Moses said to him, 'What have you done? They took us on board charging us nothing; yet you I have intentionally made a hole in their boat so as to drown its passengers. Verily, you have done a dreadful thing.' Al-Khadir replied, 'Did I not tell you that you would not be able to remain patient with me?' Moses replied, 'Do not blame me for what I have forgotten, and do not be hard upon me for my fault.' So the first excuse of Moses was that he had forgotten. When they had left the sea, they passed by a boy playing with other boys. Al-Khadir took hold of the boys head and plucked it with his hand like this. (Sufyan, the sub narrator pointed with his fingertips as if he was plucking some fruit.) Moses said to him, Have you killed an innocent person who has not killed any person? You have really done a horrible thing. Al-Khadir said, Did I not tell you that you could not remain patient with me?' Moses said If I ask you about anything after this, don't accompany me. You have received an excuse from me.' Then both of them went on till they came to some people of a village, and they asked its inhabitant for wood but they refused to entertain them as guests. Then they saw therein a wall which was just going to collapse (and Al Khadir repaired it just by touching it with his hands). (Sufyan, the sub-narrator, pointed with his hands, illustrating how Al-Khadir passed his hands over the wall upwards.) Moses said, These are the people whom we have called on, but they neither gave us food, nor entertained us as guests, yet you have repaired their wall. If you had wished, you could have taken wages for it. Al-Khadir said, This is the parting between you and me, and I shall tell you the explanation of those things on which you could not remain patient. The Prophet added, We wished that Moses could have remained patient by virtue of which Allah might have told us more about their story. (Sufyan the sub-narrator said that the Prophet said, May Allah bestow His Mercy on Moses! If he had remained patient, we would have been told further about their case. )
حضرت سعید بن جبیر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے، انھوں نے کہا: میں نے حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ س عرض کیا: نوف بکالی کہتا ہے کہ وہ موسیٰ ؑ جو حضرت خضر ؑ کے ساتھ ہیں وہ بنی اسرائیل کے پیغمبر موسیٰ ؑ نہیں بلکہ کوئی اور موسیٰ ؑ ہیں۔ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا کہ اس اللہ کے دشمن نے غلط کہاہے۔ ہمیں ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے نبی کریم ﷺ سے خبر دی ہے: ایک مرتبہ حضرت موسیٰ ؑ بنی اسرائیل میں کھڑے تقریر کررہے تھے کہ ان سے دریافت کیاگیا: کون سا شخص سب سے زیادہ علم والاہے؟ انھوں نے فرمایا: میں (سب سے بڑا عالم ہوں)۔ اس پر اللہ تعالیٰ ناراض ہوا کہ انھوں نےعلم کی نسبت اللہ کی طرف کیوں نہیں کی۔ اور فرمایا: کیوں نہیں، میرا ایک بندہ ہے جہاں دو دریا ملتے ہیں وہ وہاں رہتا ہے۔ وہ تم سے زیادہ علم رکھتا ہے۔ انھوں(موسیٰ ؑ) نے عرض کیا: اے میرے رب! میرے لیے اس تک پہنچانے کا کون ضامن ہے؟۔ ۔ ۔ کبھی سفیان نے یوں کہا: میں ان سے کس طرح ملاقات کروں گا۔ ۔ ۔ ؟ اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرمایا: ایک مچھلی لو اور اسے(بھون کر) اپنے توشہ دان (ٹوکری) میں رکھ لو جہاں تم سے وہ مچھلی گم ہوجائے بس وہ میرا بندہ وہیں ہوگا، چنانچہ انھوں (موسیٰ ؑ ) نے ایک مچھلی لی اور اسے ٹوکری میں رکھ لیا۔ پھر وہ اور ان کے خادم یوشع بن نون سفر پر روانہ ہوئے حتیٰ کہ ایک چٹان کے پاس پہنچ گئے۔ وہاں آرام کرنےکے لیے دونوں نے اپنے سراس پر رکھ دیے۔ حضرت موسیٰ ؑ کو وہاں نیند آگئی۔ اس دوران میں مچھلی نے حرکت کی۔ توشہ دان سے باہر نکلی اور سمندر کے اندر چلی گئی۔ اس نے سمندر میں اپنا راستہ سرنگ جیسا بنالیا۔ اللہ تعالیٰ نے مچھلی سے پانی کا بہاؤ روک دیا اور وہ طاق کی مانند ہوگیا۔ آپ نے اشارے سے بتایا کہ ایسے طاق کی طرح ہوگیا۔ پھر وہ دونوں حضرات باقی رات چلتے رہے حتیٰ کہ جب دوسرا دن ہوا تو حضرت موسیٰ ؑ نے اپنے خادم سے کہا: ناشتہ لاؤ ہمیں تو اس سفر میں بڑی تھکاوٹ محسوس ہوئی ہے۔ واقعہ یہ ہے کہ موسیٰ ؑ نے اس وقت تک کوئی تھکاوٹ محسوس نہیں کی جب تک وہ اس مقرر جگہ سے آگے نہ بڑھ گئے جس کا اللہ نے انھیں حکم دیا تھا۔ خادم نے کہا: دیکھئے جہاں ہم نے چٹان کے پاس آرام کیا تھا وہاں میں مچھلی کے متعلق آپ کو بتانا بھول گیا تھا اور مجھے اس کے بارے میں شیطان نے غافل رکھا اور اس مچھلی نے تو سمندر میں اپنا راستہ عجیب طور پر بنایا تھا۔ مچھلی کے لیے تو جانے کاراستہ تھا لیکن ان دونوں کے لیے تعجب کاباعث بن گیا۔ وہ دونوں حیران تھے حضرت موسیٰ ؑ نے فرمایا: یہی وہ جگہ تھی جس کی تلاش میں ہم دونوں نکلے تھے، چنانچہ یہ دونوں اسی راستے سے پہلے کی طرف واپس ہوئے اور جب اس چٹان کے پاس پہنچے تو ایک بزرگ اپنا سارا بدن ایک کپڑے میں لپیٹے ہوئے موجود تھے۔ حضرت موسیٰ ؑ نےانھیں سلام کہا اورانھوں نے اسکا جواب دیا، پھر کہا کہ تمہاری سر زمین میں سلام کہاں سے آیا؟فرمایا: میں موسیٰ ؑ ہوں۔ انھوں نے پوچھا: بنی اسرائیل کے موسیٰ ؑ؟ فرمایا: ہاں (وہی ہوں) میں آپ کی خدمت میں اس لیے حاضر ہوا ہوں کہ آپ مجھے وہ علم ہدایت سکھائیں جو آپ کو سکھلایا گیا ہے۔ وہ فرمانے لگے: اے موسیٰ ؑ! میں اللہ کی طرف سے ایک ایسے علم کا حامل ہوں جو اللہ نے مجھے سکھایا ہےآپ اسے نہیں جانتے اور آپ اللہ کی طرف سے ایک ایسے علم شریعت کے حامل ہیں جو اللہ تعالیٰ نے آپ کو سکھایا ہے میں اسے نہیں جانتا۔ حضرت موسیٰ ؑ نے کہا: کیا میں آپ کے ساتھ رہ سکتا ہوں؟ انھوں نے فرمایا: آپ ہرگز میرے ساتھ صبر نہیں کرسکیں گے۔ واقعی آپ اس چیز پر کیسے صبر کرسکتے ہیں جس کا آپ کے علم نے احاطہ نہیں کیا۔ ۔ ۔ امراً تک؟ پھر دونوں حضرات ساحل سمندر پر چل پڑے تو ان کے قریب سے ایک کشتی گزری۔ انھوں نے ان (کشتی والوں) سے بات چیت کی کہ ان کو بھی سوار کرلیں تو انھوں نے حضرت خضر ؑ کو پہچان لیا اور کرایہ لیے بغیر انھیں سوار کرلیا۔ جب یہ حضرات اس میں سوار ہوگئے تو ایک چڑیا آئی اور کشتی کے ایک کنارے بیٹھ کر اس نے پانی میں اپنی چونچ کو ایک یا دو مرتبہ ڈالا۔ حضرت خضر ؑ نے فرمایا: اے موسیٰ ؑ میرا اور آپ کا علم اللہ کے علم سے اتنی بھی کمی نہیں کرپایا جس قدر اس چڑیا نے اپنی چونچ سے سمندر کے پانی میں کمی کی ہے۔ اس دورن میں حضرت خضر ؑ نے کلہاڑی اٹھائی اور اس کے ذریعے سے کشتی میں سے ایک تختہ نکال لیا۔ اچانک موسیٰ ؑ نے دیکھا کہ کلہاڑی سے کشتی کا ایک تختہ اکھڑ چکا ہے۔ موسیٰ ؑ نے ان سے کہا: آپ نے یہ کیا کیا؟ ان لوگوں نے ہم سے کرایہ لیے بغیر ہمیں کشتی میں سوار کیا۔ آپ نے دانستہ تختہ نکال کر کشتی میں شگاف کردیا تاکہ سارے کشتی والے ڈوب جائیں، اس طرح آپ نے نہایت ہی ناگواری کا کام سرانجام دیا ہے۔ حضرت خضر ؑ نے فرمایا: میں نے آپ سے پہلے ہی کہہ دیا تھا کہ آپ میرے ساتھ رہ کر صبرنہیں کرسکیں گے۔ حضرت موسیٰ ؑ نے فرمایا: بھول چوک پر آپ میری گرفت نہ کریں اور میرے معاملے میں مجھ پر تنگی نہ فرمائیں۔ یہ پہلی غلطی حضرت موسیٰ ؑ سے بھول کر ہوئی تھی، چنانچہ جب سمندری سفرختم ہوا تو ان دونوں کا گزر ایک بچے کے پاس سے ہوا جو دوسرے بچوں کے ساتھ کھیل رہا تھا۔ حضرت خضر ؑ نے اس کا سرپکڑا اور اپنے ہاتھ سے اسے دھڑ سے جداکردیا۔ راوی حدیث سفیان نے اپنے ہاتھ سے اشارہ کیا جیسے ہو کوئی چیز توڑ رہے ہوں۔ ۔ ۔ حضرت موسیٰ ؑ نے کہا: آپ نے ایک معصوم جان کو بغیر کسی جان کے بدلے قتل کر دیا ہے۔ اس طرح آپ نے ایک ناپسندیدہ حرکت کی ہے۔ حضرت خضر ؑ نے کہا: میں نے آپ کو پہلے سے نہیں کہا تھا کہ آپ میرے ساتھ رہ کر صبر نہیں کرسکیں گے۔ موسیٰ ؑ نے فرمایا: اس کے بعد اگر میں نے آپ سے کسی چیز کے متعلق پوچھا تو آپ مجھے ساتھ نہ لے جائیں، میر ی طرف سے تمہارا عذر پورا ہوچکا ہے، چنانچہ وہ دونوں چلتے چلتے ایک گاؤں والوں کے پاس پہنچے۔ ان سے کھانا طلب کیا تو انھوں نے میزبانی سے انکار کردیا۔ ان حضرات کو بستی میں ایک ایسی دیوار نظرآئی جوگرنے کے قریب تھی۔ حضرت خضر ؑ نے اسے اپنے ہاتھ سے سیدھا کردیا۔ سفیان نے اپنے ہاتھ سے اشارہ کرکے بتایا کہ وہ جھک رہ تھی، انھوں نے اشارہ کیا کہ گویا وہ کسی چیز کو اوپر کی طرف پھیر رہے ہیں۔ میں نے سفیان سے مائلا کا لفظ صرف ایک مرتبہ سنا ہے۔ ۔ ۔ بہرحال حضرت موسیٰ ؑ نے کہا: ہم ان لوگوں کے پاس آئے، انھوں نے نہ تو ہمیں کھانا کھلایا اور نہ میزبانی ہی کا حق اداکیا آپ نے مفت میں ان کی دیوار درست کردی، آپ چاہتے تو اس پر کچھ مزدوری لے سکتے تھے؟ حضرت خضر ؑ نے فرمایا: بس یہاں سے میرے اور آپ کے درمیان جدائی ہوگی۔ آپ جن باتوں پر صبر نہیں کرسکے میں اب آپ کو ان کی حقیقت بتاتا ہوں۔‘‘ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ’’اللہ تعالیٰ موسیٰ ؑ پر رحم کرے اگر وہ تھوڑا سا صبر کرلیتے تو اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سے ان کا مزید حال بیان کرتا۔‘‘ حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بایں طور پر اس آیت کو پڑھا ہے: ’’ان کے آگے ایک بادشاہ تھا جو صحیح وسالم کشتی ان سے چھین لیتا تھا۔‘‘ ’’اور وہ لڑکا کافر تھا اور اسکے والدین مومن تھے۔‘‘ سفیان نے مجھ سے کہا: میں نے یہ حدیث عمرو بن دینار سے دو دفعہ سنی اور انھی سے یاد کی۔ سفیان سے پوچھا گیا: کیا عمرو بن دینار سے سننے سے پہلے آپ نے اس کو یاد کرلیا تھا۔ یا کسی اور انسان سے اسے یاد کیا ہے؟ سفیان نے کہا: میں کس سے اس حدیث کویاد کرتا؟ کیا اس حدیث کو عمرو بن دینار سے میرے سو ا کسی اور نے روایت کیا ہے؟ میں نے ہی اسے عمرو بن دینار سے دوبار یا تین بار سنا اور اس کو ان سے یاد کیا ہے۔
Hazrat Saeed bin Jubair (Radi Allahu Anhu) se riwayat hai, unhon ne kaha: Mein ne Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) se arz kiya: Nouf Bakali kehta hai ke wo Musa (Alaihis Salam) jo Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ke sath hain wo Bani Israel ke paighambar Musa (Alaihis Salam) nahi balki koi aur Musa hain. Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne farmaya ke is Allah ke dushman ne ghalat kaha hai. Hamein Ubai bin Ka'b (Radi Allahu Anhu) ne Nabi Kareem (Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam) se khabar di hai: Ek martaba Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) Bani Israel mein khade taqreer kar rahe the ke un se daryaft kiya gaya: Konsa shakhs sab se ziyada ilm wala hai? Unhon ne farmaya: Mein (sab se bada aalim hoon). Is par Allah Ta'ala naraz hua ke unhon ne ilm ki nisbat Allah ki taraf kyun nahi ki. Aur farmaya: Kyun nahi, mera ek banda hai jahan do darya milte hain wo wahan rehta hai. Wo tum se ziyada ilm rakhta hai. Unhon (Musa (Alaihis Salam)) ne arz kiya: Aye mere Rabb! Mere liye us tak pahunchane ka kon zaamin hai? Kabhi Sufyan ne yoon kaha: Mein un se kis tarah mulaqat karoon ga...? Allah Ta'ala farmaye ga: Ek machhli lo aur ise (bhoon kar) apne tosha-dan (tokri) mein rakh lo jahan tum se wo machhli gum hojaye bas wo mera banda wahin hoga, chunanche unhon (Musa (Alaihis Salam)) ne ek machhli li aur ise tokri mein rakh liya. Phir wo aur un ke khadim Yoosha bin Noon safar par rawanah hue hatta ke ek chattan ke paas pahunch gaye. Wahan aaram karne ke liye donon ne apne sar us par rakh diye. Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ko wahan neend agayi. Is dauran mein machhli ne harkat ki. Tosha-dan se bahar nikli aur samandar ke andar chali gayi. Us ne samandar mein apna rasta surang jaisa banaliya. Allah Ta'ala ne machhli se pani ka bahao rok diya aur wo taaq ki manind hogaya. Aap ne ishare se bataya ke aise taaq ki tarah hogaya. Phir wo donon hazraat baqi raat chalte rahe hatta ke jab doosra din hua to Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne apne khadim se kaha: Nashta lao hamein to is safar mein badi thakawat mahsoos hui hai. Waqia ye hai ke Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne us waqt tak koi thakawat mahsoos nahi ki jab tak wo us muqarrar jagah se aage na badh gaye jis ka Allah ne inhein hukm diya tha. Khadim ne kaha: Dekhiye jahan hum ne chattan ke paas aaram kiya tha wahan mein machhli ke mutalliq Aap ko batana bhool gaya tha aur mujhe is ke baare mein shaitan ne ghafil rakha aur is machhli ne to samandar mein apna rasta ajeeb taur par banaya tha. Machhli ke liye to jaane ka rasta tha lekin in donon ke liye ta'ajub ka baais ban gaya. Wo donon hairan the Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne farmaya: Yahi wo jagah thi jis ki talash mein hum donon nikle the, chunanche ye donon isi raste se pehle ki taraf wapas hue aur jab us chattan ke paas pahunche to ek buzurg apna sara badan ek kapde mein lipeite hue maujood the. Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne inhein salam kaha aur unhon ne iska jawab diya, phir kaha ke tumhari sar-zameen mein salam kahan se aya? Farmaya: Mein Musa hoon. Unhon ne poocha: Bani Israel ke Musa (Alaihis Salam)? Farmaya: Haan (wahi hoon) mein Aap ki khidmat mein is liye hazir hua hoon ke Aap mujhe wo ilm-e-hidayat sikhayein jo Aap ko sikhlayaya gaya hai. Wo farmane lage: Aye Musa (Alaihis Salam)! Mein Allah ki taraf se ek aise ilm ka hamil hoon jo Allah ne mujhe sikhaya hai Aap ise nahi jaante aur Aap Allah ki taraf se ek aise ilm-e-shariat ke hamil hain jo Allah Ta'ala ne Aap ko sikhaya hai mein ise nahi jaanta. Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne kaha: Kya mein Aap ke sath reh sakta hoon? Unhon ne farmaya: Aap har-giz mere sath sabr nahi kar sakein ge. Waqai Aap us cheez par kaise sabr kar sakte hain jis ka Aap ke ilm ne ihata nahi kiya... Phir donon hazraat sahil-e-samandar par chal pade to un ke qareeb se ek kashti guzri. Unhon ne un (kashti walon) se baat-cheet ki ke un ko bhi sawar karlein to unhon ne Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ko pehchan liya aur kiraya liye baghair inhein sawar karliya. Jab ye hazraat is mein sawar hogaye to ek chidiya aai aur kashti ke ek kinare baith kar us ne pani mein apni chonch ko ek ya do martaba dala. Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ne farmaya: Aye Musa (Alaihis Salam) mera aur Aap ka ilm Allah ke ilm se itni bhi kami nahi kar paya jis qadar is chidiya ne apni chonch se samandar ke pani mein kami ki hai. Is dauran mein Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ne kulhari uthai aur us ke zariye se kashti mein se ek takhta nikal liya. Achanak Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne dekha ke kulhari se kashti ka ek takhta ukhad chuka hai. Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne un se kaha: Aap ne ye kya kiya? In logon ne hum se kiraya liye baghair hamein kashti mein sawar kiya. Aap ne danista takhta nikal kar kashti mein shigaf kardiya taka sare kashti wale doob jayein, is tarah Aap ne nihayat hi na-guwari ka kaam sar-anjam diya hai. Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ne farmaya: Mein ne Aap se pehle hi keh diya tha ke Aap mere sath reh kar sabr nahi kar sakein ge. Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne farmaya: Bhool chook par Aap meri giraft na karein aur mere maamle mein mujh par tangi na farmaiyein. Ye pehli ghalati Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) se bhool kar hui thi, chunanche jab samandari safar khatm hua to in donon ka guzar ek bache ke paas se hua jo doosre bachon ke sath khel raha tha. Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ne us ka sar pakda aur apne haath se ise dhad se juda kardiya. Rawi-e-hadees Sufyan ne apne haath se ishara kiya jaise ho koi cheez tod rahe hon... Hazrat Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne kaha: Aap ne ek masoom jaan ko baghair kisi jaan ke badle qatl kar diya hai. Is tarah Aap ne ek na-pasandida harkat ki hai. Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ne kaha: Mein ne Aap ko pehle se nahi kaha tha ke Aap mere sath reh kar sabr nahi kar sakein ge. Musa (Alaihis Salam) ne farmaya: Is ke baad agar mein ne Aap se kisi cheez ke mutalliq poocha to Aap mujhe sath na le jayein, meri taraf se tumhara uzr poora hochuka hai, chunanche wo donon chalte chalte ek gaon walon ke paas pahunche. Un se khana talab kiya to unhon ne mezbani se inkar kardiya. In hazraat ko basti mein ek aisi diwar nazar aai jo girne ke qareeb thi. Hazrat Khidr (Alaihis Salam) ne ise apne haath se seedha kardiya. Sufyan ne apne haath se ishara karke bataya ke wo jhuk rahi thi, unhon ne ishara kiya ke goya wo kisi cheez ko ooper ki taraf pher rahe hain. Mein ne Sufyan se 'maila' ka lafz sirf ek martaba suna hai...
